This choice: Nothing happens yet. (Finally, A new case!) • Go Back...Chapter #6Nothing happens yet. (Finally, A new case!) by: Kilbil It was yet another day at the Wright Anything Agency. Once more, his mentor Pheonix Wright was out of the office, busy with yet another case that required him to be out of town. Athena herself was off visiting her best friend Juniper Woods somewhere out in the countryside. Even Trucy Wright was nowhere to be seen, leaving Apollo completely alone in the office, with no cases. As usual.
He didn't know what else he had to do. He'd already dusted the cavalcade of miscellaneous magician props and doodads that were left haphazardly around the office like a hoarder's den, so that was out of the question. He'd also already cleaned the toilets till they were absolutely spotless - a task that he really wished he wouldn't get stuck with all the time. He even took care of Charlie this time! (In other words, he moved the decorative plant a few centimeters towards a spot where the light brought out more of its faded colors)
What was worse was that his bracelet was absolutely killing him today! He had only noticed when he had first woken up, completely disheveled and exhausted beyond all belief with nothing else to focus on. Ever since then, though, it'd been a constant thorn in is his side, gripping at his wrist like a cobra no matter what he did. He wasn't even around anyone, so he couldn't just dismiss it as just his senses acting up in the face of another's lies.
It only made his mood worse as time continued to slip between his fingers, with nothing to show for it.
Perhaps he could strike up a conversation with Charley today-
"Polly! Just the person I wanted to see!"
Just then, a young teenage girl decked out in a blue magician's outfit burst into the scene, top hat already tipped toward Apollo as he reacted to the surprise visit with poise and dignity.
"Aah! Trucy! What are you doing here!?"
(Still, am I glad to at least see someone around!)
The girl's eyes seem to glint in response to that. "Mmm... let's just say that I've got a good surprise for you."
The young lawyer immediately began to tense up at the words "good surprise". (Sorry, Trucy, but if this for another one of your magic acts, consider me persona non esset!)
"Aw, don't worry Polly! There's no magic involved this time! We just had a new client call in today!'
(Wait... a new client? Does that mean...?)
"There's a new case?!?"
"Apollo!" Trucy yelled back, hands firmly placed around her ears.
(I wasn't that loud back there...was I?)
"Sorry, Trucy." Apollo sheepishly placed a hand behind his head as he stared down at the piles of documents strewn about on his desk. "It's just that it's been a while since I've actually gotten a new case lately."
Apollo only realized in hindsight that Trucy didn't actually reply to that, choosing instead to look straight at Apollo with a true showman's smile as he gathered himself. "A-anyway, what's the situation?"
"He said that he was accused of murder. From what I could hear over the phone, he was definitely telling the truth!"
(That's right. Trucy had the ability to perceive when a person was lying through the subtlest of tells. It makes sense that she would be able to tell just from his voice on the phone)
"Thanks for letting me know about this, Trucy. I haven't exactly been getting many cases lately, so..."
"Aw, don't worry, Polly. You're sure to get a growth spurt any time now!"
(Huh!? Where did that come from!? And I'm not exactly a teenager anymore, Trucy! I can't just get another growth spurt!)
"You don't know that!" Trucy replied with a pout and a not-so-subtle wink.
"...in any case, let's get going. Did you happen to catch his address?"
"Don't worry, I have it right here!" the magician replied, pointing straight at her head. "Ace Magician Trucy Wright is right behind you!"
indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
