I point the gun at her again and fire, to return her back to normal. Unfortunately, the gun was still set on "Growth." The 9 year old girl expanded out in all directions. I hit her with a pretty strong blast, so there was no telling how big she would eventually become.
Amy continued crying as she grew, watching the ground get farther and farther away from her. She was having a hard time understanding why this was happening to her.
Down the street, I saw Amy's mother come outside. She looked up at her daughter, who by now had surpassed the 100 foot mark and was showing no signs of stopping. Amy's giant foot had grew into a neighbor's yard and was slowly crushing the white picket fence they had around their house.
Amy stepped forward, placing both of her feet in the street, to keep from destroying anything else. She watched the tiny people on the ground become smaller to her and she began to cry louder, afraid she would never be able to return to normal.
A few seconds later, her feet sank into the concrete below her, as she stood at 200 feet. Everyone in the neighborhood looked up at the giant sneakers the girl wore, as her shoes had to be as big as a house. In fact, their width alone was wider than the entire street she was standing on.
Finally, as she reached 250 feet in height, she stopped growing. She looked down at the doll-sized people, trying to find her mom. She searched frantically, wanting a familiar face to comfort her.
She had no such luck and I saw the mother standing by her front door, still in shock. Amy soon gave up, running down the street, her huge feet leaving giant craters with each step. As she ran, cars sitting in driveways and in the street bounced violently off the ground, setting off their alarms in the process. Pretty soon, a cacophony of the chirping, wailing alarms could be heard.
I felt sorry for the girl. I didn't mean for this to happen. I only wanted to have a little fun.
I decided I had to do something. I thought about growing the mother even larger than Amy, maybe double the girl's height, so that the 9 year old could be comforted.
Already, Amy was more than five miles away, her footsteps echoing in the distance, although everyone could see her giant form on the horizon.
If I decided to go after her, I felt it was a far better plan to stay the same size I was now, since the neighbors might get suspicious if they see two people growing to immense heights. Plus, they might start suspecting that I had something to do with it, and that was something I would like to avoid.
