Like already seeing triple was bad enough, the ride in the lady’s pocket wasn’t pleasant. You were toss back and forth until she stops and takes you out. Where *hic* are we? You said. Somewhere you should know. She said. Wait. Are going to-Sell you? Yes. She finishes. I’m not no object here *hic* lady. I’m a….person. You said. Who can barely stand, yet you are my ticket of this dirtball. She said. You really think someone would *hic* pay for me? You said. Handsomely. You said. You…won’t get away with this. You said. For the right price, I will. She said. As the minutes, ticked by, you slowly sober up. There’s no way I’m going to be sold like some object. You said. You start thinking of an escape plan when you see Rey with a worried look. Rey? Rey! Over here! You shout. Her gaze comes to see something small waving at her. Tyne?! She said. Rey runs over to you. I’ve been searching for you. She said. Well, I wasn’t playing a game of hide and seek. I was taken. You said. I know. I turn my back for one second. I’m not letting you out of my sights again. She said. Rey reaches for you, but stops when a voice calls out. Unless you pay for him, step aside. It said. Oh no. You said. The hooded woman comes back. Pay? Has the heat fried your brain or something? You took him! Rey argued. Not my fault you left him there. You were basically saying take him. She said. Now I’m saying give him back! He not yours! Rey said with her staff ready. Put that away. Like you’re not already causing a scene. She said. It’ll be more than a scene if you don’t hand him over! Rey said. Look. We’re both reasonable people here. Let’s try and talk this out. She said. There’s nothing to talk about! Hand him over, NOW! Rey said. Do you want more people to know about him? Lower your voice! She said. I hate to say it, but she’s right. I don’t want everyone to know about me. You said. ……Alright. For you, Tyne. Rey said. See. Now let’s talk about like rational people. The lady said.
What do you want with him? Rey said. Simple: Off this dirtball. Your friend is my ticket. She said. You plan on selling him?! Rey said. A tiny human’s got to be worth something. She said. He’s a person! Not some object to give away! Rey said. If you feel so strongly about it, you can take him. For a price. She said. You’re going to be that greedy? You said. Call it what you want, but I’m getting off this dustball one way or another. She said. How much are you going to charge for me anyway? You said. If she considers you a friend, she’d give up all her credits. She said. You must be suffering from a heat stroke. Rey wouldn’t-Done. Rey interrupts. You look up at her. Rey. That’s all the credits you’ve been saving plus made during selling. You said. I can make it all back. Here. Take it and go. Rey said. She drops all her credits on the table. You must care a lot about him. Maybe even more than a friend. But that’s not my concern. A pleasure doing business. She said. Rey picks you up and heads to her speeder. She hops in and drives back home. It was a quiet ride. Neither of you said anything until Rey gets home. She hops out and slumps down against wall.
Why? You said. Why what? She said. Why’d you give up all your earnings for me?! You said. Because you’re my friend. She said. You don’t give up all your life savings just for a friend. That’s something you do for a…. Wait. D-Do you see me more than a friend? You said. ……Maybe. What of it? She said. What do you mean “Maybe.”? You said. Maybe I see you as just a friend or maybe I see you more than a friend. She said. You’re not making any sense. You said. Can’t you be happy that I got you back from that woman? She said. I am! But I want to know why you gave up every last credit just for me. You said. Because you’re my friend! Like I keep telling you! She said. Nobody gives up their life saving like that. Not for a friend. That’s something you do for a love one. You said. Then it hits you. Rey…… Do you….love me? You said. Rey looks away from you. You just can’t leave well enough. She said. If you just tell me, I would. You said. I told you already! She said. Who are you trying to convince? Me? Or you? You said. I’m not trying to convince anyone! I said I did it because you’re my friend. You can take it or leave it, but I’m done talking about it. She said. ……Alright. Fine. You did it for a friend. Nothing more, nothing less. You said.
The rest of the day went by normally, except you and Rey didn’t speak to each other and gave each other distance. With the heated conversation, you think it’s for the best for now. When night came, you decided to sleep in your makeshift bed. You were about to drifted off when you are picked up and placed on a soft pillow. You look at her as she lays down. You want to say something, but bit your tongue and just went back to sleep with your back to her. While you were sleeping, Rey sat up and looked at you sleeping.
Damn it….. Why couldn’t I just tell him? She said. Rey put her head in her hands. She did see you more than as a friend, but she couldn’t bring herself to say it. At first, she saw you as a friend, but as she started to care for you more and more, a deeper feeling had formed in her heart. She knew it when you had called her pretty. She played it off as you being in a stupor, but her heart was pounding hard. There’s no way it can happen now. He probably hates me now. With good reason. I lied straight to his face, and I’d be lucky if he speaks to me. Let alone even look at me. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! She said. She was kicking herself over her chance at something more being gone. And after the way I talked to him, why would he even forgive me? What if he just ups and leaves me by myself? I'll be right back where i started. Alone. She said. Tears were forming in her eyes, but she held them back. I need to apologize to him. He forgave me after I hurt him. Maybe he'll forgive me again. But after all I said, he won’t listen. I need to show I’m sorry. She said.
Just as she said that, an idea pop into her head. Rey gently turned you over on your back. He’s had fantasies about me. Maybe…. If I make one of them come true, he’ll forgive me. She said. Rey wanted you to forgive her, but is this the best way for it?
