"How have you been able to keep Hanson a secret?" Curious, Jenny asked. "Certainly, you are known by someone as you have a school uniform."
"Hanson is an orphan." Tearfully, Hanson replied. "He is a ward of the school and thus not officially enrolled so only a few staff members know about him."
"Leaving the students to guess that you are a visiting relative." Sighing, Jenny said. She shook her head. "Other people are bound to discover your secret but maybe I can help you in some subtle way. However, I need to trust me."
Hanson shrugged. "You know my secret so I guess I have no choice but to trust you." A few tears falling, he said. "There's nothing I can do to stop you from telling anyone."
"What if I were to share a secret of my own." After a thought, Jenny asked. "One I feared would cause me to disappear."
Hanson looked at Jenny wide eyed. "You would do that..."
If it would help you to trust me, yes." Serious, Jenny said.
Hanson hesitated. Jenny knew he was struggling with her proposition. Finally, he nodded, agreeing to her suggestion. Jenny smiled. "I have the ability to walk anywhere I want without being seen or heard by anyone even if I am standing next to him or her." Softly, she said. "There not a single lock I cannot pick, not a single computer or security system I cannot crack." She winked at Hanson. "It is part of how i am able to solve any mystery given to me."
Hanson"s jaw dropped. "Wow..." Stunned, he whispered. "Here I thought changing from boy to girl was something..."
Jenny smiled though she was worried inside. "Oh, Hanson... if you only knew half of what you were capable of." Feeling pity, she thought. Then she asked, "Will you trust me now?" Hanson nodded and Jenny pulled a radio from her belt. "Security, I have discovered an abused child." Serious, she said."
Hanson looked up at Jenny, a look of betrayal on his face and began to cry. Jenny took a firm hold of his arm, just in case he may try to run, which brought more tears. It was exactly what she was hoping for. A female security officer responded on the other line. "Is that Hannah Hanson?" Worry in her voice, she asked.
"And Hanson Hannah." Serious, you replied. "They are sharing the same place in time and space... we have a case of paradox twins."
Minutes later, Hanson, now in the form of Hannah in the girls school uniform sat in the security office with a tearful pout on her face. "I thought I could trust you..." Crying, she said. "Why did you tell on me?"
An amazon of a woman in a security uniform sat down in a bench across from Jenny and Hannah with a kind smile on her face. On her name tag was the name Fawn Cross. She was muscular with long black hair and green eyes. "You have nothing to fear, dear child." Tenderly, Fawn said. "No one here has ever vanished and, with me on the job, no one ever will."
Hannah turned to Fawn, still crying. "What are you going to do to me?" Afraid, she asked. "I know I walked into the boys room as a girl but..."
"I cannot imagine what it was like for you to be forced to use your powers to be a girl for your mother and a boy for your father." Gently, Fawn said. "Reviewing both yours and 'his' medical evaluation, it became so intense, so stressful that your boy and girl form had developed their own personality." She winced, pity in her eyes. "You are literally two people in one and it seems you can't remember which gender you were born under."
"What... what will happen to me?" Afraid, Hannah repeated.
"Well, your existing powers had been divided between your boy and girl forms." Softly, Jenny said. "You will not be as powerful as you were destined to be but you will still have abilities of worth."
"Indeed you will." Smiling, Fawn said. "In the meantime, we will enroll your male persona and categorize you and he as paradox twins."
"Categorize..." Turning pale, Hannah asked.
"It's not what you think, Hannah." Gently, you said. "Everyone is placed on lists based upon their skill or power set along with gender, age and so on."
"Paradox twins are two people who had spawned from one individual." Kindly, Fawn said. "Unlike multiple personalities which are of the mind alone, a paradox twin is a separate personality that had manifested itself into a solid form through a transformation."
Hannah paused. "I- I guess that makes sense."
"This is not the end of your journey, Hannah and Hanson." With a bemused smile, Fawn said. "This is just the beginning."
Jenny sighed. "His secret is safe, for now." Relieved, she thought. "At least until he or she learns how to summon it to the surface."
