Dakota, Zack, and the older man stared in shock as Piper landed 3 rings in a row. Her fourth throw bounced- Piper swore it was due to a sudden shout from a group of children off to her left. Her fifth throw also bounced pitifully off the rim of a bottle, which caused Piper to whip around and punch Zack in the shoulder for sneezing. "You did that on purpose!" She shouted, before turning around and winding up for another throw- which went wide again. Three in a row must have been a fluke, Dakota thought but didn't dare say it aloud.
Piper wound up for her sixth throw, paused, then switched to her other hand, wound up, and landed a ring so perfectly on a bottle that you almost didn't hear the two items touch. Dakota noticed a glint come off Piper's hand, and looked to see that the throwing hand was (of course) the hand with the ring. Then the seventh went the same way- she was now at five rings on bottles. "Congratulations!" The older man said, still wearing a look of shock. "I gotta admit, I don't think anyone's landed five rings in-" Piper held a hand up, then threw the final three rings- two with her ring hand and one with her bare one. And lo and behold, the two on the ring finger landed beautifully on necks, while the other bounced loudly around. She shot the man a knowing smile, who was now completely in awe.
"See, you guys? Lucky!" Zack was too shocked to be grumpy about this- even he had to admit that was quite a feat.
"Well, young lady, I think you've had your fun. You can have a stuffed bear, and..." He dug around underneath his counter before handing her an envelope. "All these. Congrats- they're good until the end of the year, at any rate, so I'm glad I'm getting rid of them." Piper grabbed the envelope and thrust the bear into Zack's arms, who took it with a grunt.
As they walked away from the booth, Piper dug through the various papers inside the envelope. "Sweet, these are all free coupons for places around the pier! Check it out-" She handed a few to Dakota, who thumbed through them.
"Free sundae at Pat's!"
"Free combo #2 at any Pier Burger!"
"Free unlimited popcorn at the Daven's Port Cinema!"
"That's pretty cool, Piper, I assume you're gonna share?" Dakota asked hopefully- that corndog felt like it was forever ago.
"Only if you and Zack admit this ring is lucky. Seriously, admit it- that was amazing!"
"Fine- it was great- I want a pop, Piper." Zack said quickly, pointing with his free hand at a walk-up store. Piper dutifully thumbed over a coupon for a large soda, au gratis.
"Now you say it, Dakota!" Dakota scowled at her. "C'mon, I think this... Hmm... Cinnamon dipped pretzel has your name on it!"
"Fine, YOU got lucky at the ring toss." She said, reaching out for the slip of paper, which was quickly jerked out of her reach.
"Ah-ah-ah, the RING is lucky. Say it! Say it!" Piper jumped around with the coupon in the air, causing her boobs to wobble wildly and attract the attention of several guys in their vicinity.
"Fine, it's lucky, whatever, quit bouncing around! Sheesh, Piper!" The coupon was given to her with a grin.
"Wait, wait, get me- ooh, this sounds good!" She handed Dakota a second coupon. Rolling her eyes, Dakota got in line behind Zack.
