Alix had her black-and-red sleeve pulled up over her right arm, smirking at how easily she’d defeated all prior competition. That jock, Kim was the first to go down, followed by Ivan, and even Nino and Adrien. No matter which hand she used, she was certain that victory would never abandon her. But that didn’t prevent her from being surprised when she heard who responded to her challenge next.
“I’ll take you on.” Marinette declared.
Alix, along with everyone else present at the cafeteria turned to see this. Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a rather feminine girl who concerned herself primarily with fashion designs, wanted to partake in a predominantly masculine activity? Alix chuckled a little at the absurdity of the situation.
“Alright, I’ll try to go easy on you.” The pinkhead taunted.
Marinette took a seat opposite to Alix, her own right arm having its sleeve lifted up from it, and gripped Alix’s hand, both of their arms bent at a 90° on the tan wooden table. On the count of 3, the match began, and the two contestants seemed to be on equal footing. That is, until Alix caught a faint twinkle in Marinette’s left eye. She recognized what it was for she too had that same twinkle, but that would mean that Marinette had an ace in the whole, which couldn’t be possible, right? Suddenly, Alix’s arm was starting to shake, a sign that her strength was wavering against her new adversary. The roller-blader’s pupil’s dilated as she hadn’t experienced a feeling like this before. The two arms were slowly descending, with Marinette’s arm being above Alix’s. Beads of sweat poured down her face as Alix gritted her teeth and pooled all of her power into that one appendage, but Marinette’s arm just wouldn’t budge. Eventually, Alix’s reserves of stamina had been depleted, and her arm collapsed under the pressure of Marinette’s. Alix’s blue eyes widened at what she just saw.
“What was that?!” She thought. “There's no way that just happened!”
Nobody had expected this outcome. Alix had just had her four-time winning streak broken… by Marinette, of all people! This was so embarrassing.
“Well, do you want to go again?” Marinette inquired innocently, but with the slightest hint of a smirk.
Alix nursed her right arm for a moment before answering, “Yeah, but the first time was just beginner’s luck.”
They locked hands together once again, but this time, Alix was willing to use both of hands to overcome Marinette. At the second count of three, Alix and Marinette were somewhat evenly matched, with Alix even thinking that she had gotten a narrow edge over the pigtailed teenager. However, that notion was swiftly shot down when Marinette’s hand tightened its grip on Alix’s two, causing the black-capped girl to let out a yelp of shock. It was then that Alix’s arms were beginning to buckle at the force of Marinette’s bulging biceps, making her scowl a bit at how much effort she had to put in just to stave of defeat. At least she was holding out longer than last time, as they’d already exceeded the 30 seconds that it had taken for Marinette to win before. With wobbling arms, Alix continued her attempt to hold off Marinette’s advancing arm, but the battle was gradually falling in favor of the Chinese-French girl. And she didn’t even seem to be trying that hard to boot! Finally, at the one minute mark, Alix had conceded success to her new opponent, out of desire to not have her arm be seriously injured. As Alix frowned in disappointment, she also took notice of how… large the blue-haired girl’s arm muscles were. Good God, how could she get that beefy without anyone noticing?!
“Is that it?” Marinette asked as her sly grin now clearly visible.
Her question was met with various responses from some of the other students, who figured that they might be able to wear her down by taking turns. They soon learned that this was definitely not the case, as Kim, Ivan and Nino were all subsequently served. Even when they and Alix teamed up and used both of their hands, Marinette was able to come out on top in a matter of 2 minutes, though she had to put in as much as a quarter of her strength to do so. The only point in which Marinette came remotely close to being toppled was when her crush, Adiren went against her. Oh, how she was unwilling to damage those perfect fair-skinned arms. But, in her fervor to find out how strong she was, those feelings of attractions were pushed back into the recesses of her mind and he was bested like his predecessors. Though, at least he assure her that it didn’t hurt, making her sigh in relief. Soon, their lunchtime had come to an end and the cafeteria was becoming less densely populated. Marinette’s opponents shook her hand, saying that there were no hard feelings, including Alix who stayed behind to talk to her.
“Marinette, I want to know how you got that strong.” She said.
“Well, I just dieted and exercised like people usually do, but for six months.” Marinette answered casually.
Alix’s eyes widened in shock once again. “How does someone get that strong in just six months?! She must have a secret or something!”
“I want to ask if you can train me.” Alix requested, folding her still sore arms in defiance of a potential ‘no’ to that answer. “If you can get that strong in six months, then I can get stronger in the same time.”
Marinette turned her eyes away from Alix, pondering her answer. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
