This choice: POV: Dahlia, the booth babe, who brings Zack his prize • Go Back... When Dahlia first saw him, she didn’t think much of Zack. A (relatively) skinny contestant with boyish features who she figured would tap out after the first course. She certainly didn’t expect him to win the whole damn thing. She had to say, she was impressed. In her favorite way to be impressed…
“Here you go, Barbecue King…” She cooed, placing a crown on Zack’s head, while he shirtlessly picked over his extra pecan pie.
“Uh…thanks.” Zack mumbled, unsure what to say to the shapely beauty who was surely getting paid to pay attention to him.
“And you’ve earned a years free meals at any participating restaurant, you can enjoy all that yummy barbecue again and again”
You ever have one of those moments where you know your life is going to be fucked, and it’s going to be years recovering from it, but it’s so sudden you can’t really process or understand the emotions? Zack felt that, it the pit of his stomach, and then the bottom of the pit dropped out.
“I don’t know if that’s such a good idea…”
“Why wouldn’t it be?” Dahlia giggled.
Zacks hands nervously drifted to his swollen orb of a gut. “You’re not gonna believe this, but I’m actually on a diet.”
“Well, tell you what, champ. Why don’t I give you a free year's membership, so you don’t have to worry about your weight.”
Zack wasn’t sure if she was more intimidated by the way this woman’s fingers danced along his belly fat, or the way her breast gently swayed in front of his vision, tugging at the narrow strings of her bikini.
“...membership...?” He asked, clueless and distracted.
She giggled again, and stood up straight, towering over the seated Zack, before offering her hand. “How silly of me. My name is Dahlia. I’m a personal trainer.” She gestured at her body by means of clarification. It’s true she didn’t have overt musculature, but she did have the kind of body Alice wanted in her fitness dreams, light, and graceful and perky and toned by yoga and pilates.
“A personal trainer? You sure you want to give me a full year’s free membership?” Zack mulled it over. “It sounds expensive.”
“Of course? I can’t have our town Barbecue King missing out on his prize! He worked so hard at it, and is so cute to boot.” She smiled.
Zack did the hardest thing he’s ever had to do. “And he’s married.” He said, firmly, and flatly.
“Ohmygosh.” Dahlia covered her mouth, immediately sorry. Shitshitshit she was losing him. Come up with something. “Sorry…I had no idea, you’re so young and er…” She lowered her hand, showing her nervous smile. “The people running this thing wanted me to play up the uh…” She looked down at her bikini sheepishly.
“Oh. Oh…valid. You didn’t know. Just uh…now you know.”
“I still want you to have the free membership.”
“Really?” Zack said, suspiciously.
“Totally, you know, that stuff about cute, that was just in character but, it would be super dumb to win this contest and not enjoy the prize you know? And helping getting people in shape is my passion…” Dahlia lied as easily as she breathed.
“Well, I could use a little help…” indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
