At 27 Linda was fairly successful and quite a talented scientist
Unfortunately she was a single parent. Her daughters father had cheated on her than ran out on them.
Every since Linda had tried to be a good parent and was for the most part.
There were times she had mixed feelings about motherhood though.
Today was one of those days and one of those times she was being a questionable mother.
You see for quite some time the government agency she worked for had been working on a project that was now ready for live trials after 1 test on an animal However her noses were pushing for a human trail.
Eventually her bosses wore her down and made her a hard to refuse offer
after seeing pictures of Linda's 2 1/2 year old daughter Sara.
Linda had brought Sara in but felt horrible for considering this idea however if successful and Sara was safe they'd be super wealthy plus Linda would have a major promotion to boot.
Her bosses addressed Sara as she held her stuffed rabbit and cutely had a finger in her mouth.
"Now Sara we are going to need you to let go of mister rabbit for a little while but if everything goes ok afterwards how does a pile of ice cream bigger than you sound"
Sara looked at her stuffed rabbit then her mom
She took her finger from her mouth and handed it to her mom while saying
"Ice cweam ice cweam"
"Sounds like she's in agreement" joked the supervisor.
"And tell you what maybe afterwards we can see how you like being big" he teased.
"Sara big?" She questioned
Then she rocked back and forth a bit cheering
"Sara big Sara big Sara big"
"Well sounds like she approves of that too" he said.
Linda glared at her boss knowing full well they've not tested other functions yet.
"Ok now no matter what stay STILL and be a good girl sweetie" Linda said to her daughter.
The scientists then began setting up the device when 1 of the boses secretly had some of the lab technicians make adjustments without telling the other boss or Linda.
"Are you sure about this boss" they asked.
"Yes I'm sure besides we aren't going to make her that much larger so what's the worst that could happen"
The 3 technicians exchanged worried looks.
"You 3 worry too much it's not like we are going to have a giant child on our hands like that Honey I Blew Up The Kid movie and she's just a little girl. You can't make an omelette without cracking a few eggs as they say. Now do as I say"
With that the device was locked onto Sara its target.
Suddenly it began storming outside
"Uhh with all do respect should we be doing these tests during a storm" asked one tech.
"It should be fine besides it's not a bad storm" replied both bosses.
Soon the device powered up and a blue beam struck Sara tickling but not harming her.
At that moment tho there was a power surge a lightning struck the building
The bolt traveled through the buildings wires and to the device there was a bright flash and the beam turned from a beam to a bolt of energy.
At first it didn't seem to harm Sara but nonetheless everyone shouted
"Turn it if turn off quick"
Suddenly it got stronger for a moment and Sara was flung from her seat.
Finally they shut the device off as Linda rushed to get daughter
"Sara Sara are you ok"
The girl sat up seemingly unharmed safe a small bruise
Suddenly Sara sat up and began to cry.
"Damn it Marc and you too Marv I should never have agreed to this shit"
