"Wow, you really thought about this." Bri replied back to him, seemingly impressed. "Are you ready for the next swap?" She smiled as she watched her brother begrudgingly nod his head in agreement. "Good, I think we should swap our places in the family." Josh couldn't help but look at his sister and wondered what she meant by that. "Well, if I think it does it the way I think it will. You." Bri pointed over to her brother. "Will be the youngest girl and I." She pointed her finger back over to herself. "Will be the oldest kid."
"You've put a lot of thought into this haven't you?" Josh chuckled as he thought about it for a moment. 'I guess, I could do it for a couple days. I know it will certainly give me a break from the chores.' Being the oldest in the family had it's perks, but he also had the most chores to do too.
"Well, do you want to do it or not?" Bri asked impatiently.
"Fine, I accept." The blinding light soon enveloped the room once more and they looked over at each other, not seeing anything different.
"Did it work?" Bri asked as she looked down at herself.
"I think it did." Josh answered, looking around the unchanged room. "How about we go down stairs and ask Mom." Bri nodded and they both made their way down stairs to find their Mom talking on her cell phone talking to somebody lovingly. But seeing two of her children walk into the room, she abruptly told them that she had to go.
"Hey you two." Kim chuckled as she put her phone away into her purse. "What are you two up to?"
Josh thinking about the best way to phrase the question, he looked to his Mom. "Mom do you love me?"
Taken aback by the question, Kim looked over at Josh and started to stroke his hair in a loving manner. "Sure sweetie, you will always be my little girl." Josh looked over at Bri who had the biggest grin on her face.
"Who was on the phone?" Bri asked bring her usual nosey self.
"Oh." Kim replied with a bit of blush. "That was Mike."
Josh just shook his head trying to help with the sudden drop of information. "You mean Dr. Wright, your boss?"
"Well yeah, sweetie." Kim made her way over to the kitchen table and had a seat. "Well, we've been talking and decided to start taking it to the next level."
"You mean dating?" Josh asked, still not used to the change that was coming to his family. 'Sure, Dad left them years ago and hasn't been seen since, but this was his family.' He thought to himself.
"Mmhmm." Kim nodded her head. "And he wants to meet you guys tomorrow and get to know you all a little bit better."
A million different thoughts were starting to go through Josh's head, but was soon stopped by Bri speaking up for the first time since coming down. "Wow, really?" Josh looked over at his sister who seemed to be beaming as much as their Mom. To her it only came natural, since she never really got to know their real dad. "So what are we going to do?"
"Well he will be taking you to a baseball game." Kim replied as she turned to Bri, but was cut short by Josh.
"I want to go to the baseball game." Josh announced looking over at the two of them.
"Oh, I know, but you see..." Kim commented, trying to find the best words that would fit. "Well it's going to be a boy's thing." Josh didn't really understand what was going on.
Bri's smile turned even more devilish as she looked over at Josh. "What is he going to do with the girls?"
"Oh, I think he's going to do something special. I don't really know yet, since he just wanted to run by the game idea by me first." Kim commented. "Now how about you two run back up to your room and clean it up before it gets too late."   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
