Olivia marched her way into the cafeteria and flung open the doors. Fifteen fourth graders had just sat down to lunch. They cowered at the sight of Olivia. Whatever her plans were for them, they couldn't be good.
Normally, Olivia would be savoring their frightened expressions. But she wasn't even looking at their faces, only at what they held in their hands: food! One kid had taken his first bite of his sandwich, and was still holding it to his mouth.
"Out of my way, pipsqueak!" she bellowed and she rushed towards him. She grabbed the sandwich out of his hand, and shoved him to the floor. The kids looked on as Olivia scarfed it down faster than they could have imagined it was possible to consume food.
"The rest of you, give me your lunches. Now!"
Some immediately capitulated, handing their brown paper bags to Olivia. She ripped them apart eagerly to get at the food. She tore the tops off bottles with her teeth, and drank their contents in a single swallow. A few students tried to make a run for it.
"Where do you think you're going?" Olivia growled. She tackled them, forced them face-down onto the ground, and then sat on them.
"I know that you have more lunches." she said to the remaining students. "Give them to me!"
Some students denied it. She turned them upside-down and shook them until their lunches clattered to the floor. She ate them, and slammed the students against the tables as punishment.
Then the terrified kids noticed something. With each swallow of food, Olivia appeared to grow larger.
"Olivia...Are you getting bigger?" asked one girl.
Olivia hadn't noticed anything. She had been too absorbed in her gluttony. But now that the question had been raised, everything else around did look smaller than usual...She wanted to test the theory.
"Put all of your money in the vending machines in the corner, and buy me food," said Olivia.
The kids did as they were told. Olivia ate each item they brought her, and she waited for its effects. Sure enough, she saw her perspective change. Eating was making her grow! By the time, the kids had spent all their money, she was fully six feet tall.
Olivia thought about the possibilities. She wanted to keep growing. As much as possible. She wanted to be huge, big enough to bully everyone in the school, even the grown-ups. She took a chair and smashed the glass on the vending machine.
"Give me all of that food."
The children scrambled to give it to her. They were too scared to resist, as they watched her grow, foot by foot. But of course, the contents of the vending machine were not enough to satisfy her hungers for food and power. With her now immense strength, she wrenched the kitchen door open, busting through its lock.
"Feed me everything in the kitchen," she ordered.
The students obliged. Packages of salad greens, hot dogs and their buns, hamburger patties (still raw). They gave them all to Olivia, who barely chewed as she greedily guzzled them down. Soon prepared foods were gone, and she moved onto ingredients: tubs of condiments, sacks of flour and sugar. She gulped down bottles of cooking oil like they were soda. Anything edible disappeared into her. She had grown so much that her head was brushing the ceiling. She didn't look like a girl any longer, but like some ogre out of a fairy tale.
"Why have you stopped?" demanded Olivia. "Keep feeding me."
"The kitchen is empty" said one kid. "There's no more food."
