There was wide open fields as far as your eyes could see. Well.... aside form the bordering mountains in the area that were really far off. But what kind of fields were these?

Were they grazing/running fields for your horses?

Were they grazing fields where you often milk the cows?

Were they fields for your sheep/goats?

Were they fields for a pack of wolves you owned?

Was a field for something else?
