"What!" Fleur De Lis screamed at the boss of the modelling agency, "I have been a model for you for years. Now you are letting me go. I am still in my prime."
Fleur didn't expect to be fired out of nowhere. She expected that she would still be in the modelling career for at least another decade. Her face turned red as she was puffing with anger.
"I know but after the review with the board, we believed it is the best to let you go," the boss reasoned with her, "Like you said that you have been our model for years. By looking at our sale charts, the sale of magazines featuring you have been steadily dwindling over the past couple of seasons."
"Not my fault that the marketing staff could not keep up with the trend. I am not here to take the blame for your staff's incompetent," Fleur argued back with her hoof pointing at him.
"Fleur be reasonable," the boss pushed her hoof down, "I will be straight. You are old news. We need fresh blood. Survey says that they wanted new models and got tired with you. There is a saying, 'out of the old and in with the new'."
Fleur just sat there, clenching her hooves and tears forming in her eyes, "So you are going to toss me out like wet trash. After all these years that I have help you to become where you are now."
"I am not the bad guy here. It is just business. You know how tough the modelling career is," the boss pulled out an envelope from his drawer, "Here is your compensation. It would give you some time to think what you want to do."
"Where do I go?" Fleur mumbled, "All I know is modelling and looking pretty."
After an awkward silence, neither of them know an answer, "You're a smart mare. I am sure you can find one."
Fleur left the office with her head down. Tear was streaming down her face but she managed not to be notice by anypony. When she got out of the building and into a deserted place, she sat down and cry.
She was so depressed with the situation, she didn't hear somepony approached her, "Are you okay, Miss Fleur De Lis?"
She looked up with mascara running down her face and saw a handsome stallion. She wanted to say that she was alright but she couldn't say it, "No. I'm not. Lost my job and I do not know where to go next."
"A pretty lady like you shouldn't be crying," he summoned a handkerchief and pass it to her.
"Thanks," Fleur wiped the mascara off her face.
"If you looking for a job, I can give you one," the stallion hoofed her a card, "Contact me and I will ensure you that you have a job."
Fleur De Lis took the card. When she looked up, he disappeared. With nowhere else to go, might as well take this opportunity.
