Leah looked down at her dad with indifference as she continued to pet Daisy as her dog finished lapping up the water out of the glass the dog was now holding with Frank's human hands. As soon as she finished Leah held Daisy by the collar of Frank's dirty old shirt Daisy now had, "Well dad I'll see you later. I'm gonna need you to watch Daisy in a few days if you still aren't doing anything."
"Don't go!" Frank said with a bit of panic in his voice. Not because he didn't want his daughter to leave, he knew their relationship was probably beyond repair. No, Frank needed to keep Daisy and his real body around so that Earl could swap them back. Frank trotted on his four paws to stand in front of the door, "Why leave so soon, tell me how school's going?"
"It's Summer dad, I'm out of school for another month. Now do you mind moving."
Frank tried to think of something to say to his daughter to get her to stay but was coming up empty, when thankfully out of nowhere there was a knock on the door. "Earl? Is that you?" Frank said hopefully.
"No it's Shannon, Earl is a bit...tied up at the moment. Mind if I come in?" Frank's heart sunk upon hearing the voice of Earl's girlfriend. "Door's open." Frank said moving out of the doorway so she could come in. Shannon stepped in, still in her waitress uniform from the diner she worked at, The Pinup Paradise. It was a 50's themed diner just off the strip but all the waitresses wore outfits that wouldn't be out of place as a 50's centerfold. It was actually kind of average compared to some of the stuff some people wore out in public. She was currently wearing a very short red and white dress that didn't look like it would be out of place as a picnic blanket. Frank actually was a bit taken by surprise when he looked up to see her and got a face full of upstart. Leah used her dad's momentary distraction to slip past them both with Daisy without saying another word to her dad. "Bye Shannon, hope my uncle Earl isn't being too much trouble."
"I know how to deal with him, you take care." Shannon shut the door and looked down at Frank. "So, Earl actually did leave you here with the body of your kid's dog. He told me he did it but I guess seeing it is a whole other thing."
Frank's eyes widened, "Wait, you can tell that this isn't normal? Leah totally didn't freak out or anything when she saw me and Daisy."
Shannon nodded, "Yeah, Earl showed it to me at the diner and I looked at some of the settings. I think because I've messed with it now I can see it's effects on others."
"Earl didn't use it on you did he?"
Shannon flushed red and got an annoyed look on her face, "He tried to test it on me with the cook, Ol' Lucky, but Earl's aim was bad and he swapped my head with a coffee pot. He swapped me back a minute later but I'm going to make sure I pay him back for it. You have no idea how bad it is to have hot coffee poured out of your nose."
Frank laughed at the mental image before Shannon continued, "Sorry that I didn't swap you and Daisy back before Leah left, I didn't realize she was here when I pulled up."
"So you have the swapping gun? Let's go, maybe we can catch them before they leave."
"No, I left it in my car, sorry. But next time Daisy is around, call me up...if you can with those paws, and I'll come over and swap you back."
"No offence, but why you and not Earl?"
"First off, do you completely trust him to swap you back and not prank you again?" Shannon asked and Frank thought about it for a second, "Good point."
"And second of all...Earl isn't exactly capable of using the Head Swapping Gun or anything else that requires opposable thumbs. And now that it looks like the place is clear I'll let him in, wait here." Shannon quickly left, Frank tried to look out the window but the window was just a little too high for Frank to look out of. A minute later the door opened up again and Shannon walked back in with Earl following behind her on a leash. Earl now had the body of a female dalmatian.
Frank gave a big hardy laugh, "Looks like I'm not the only bitch in the building."
"Ha ha," Earl said sarcastically as made his way to a back room, "I've had an exhausting few hours so I'm gonna crash on your bed for a little bit. Shannon will explain everything."
As soon as Earl was out of earshot Frank quickly asked, "So what the hell is my brother also have a dog body now?"
Shannon smiled as she explained.
