Adam paced nervously in his sister's room, the clutter of May's belongings a familiar sight that suddenly felt a bit more foreign. Posters of pop stars and brightly colored fairy lights hung around the walls, a stark contrast to the storm of thoughts swirling in his mind. He couldn’t stop thinking about Hunter and Kate, the way they laughed together in the hallway, or how she’d looked at him with pity when he’d stumbled over his words the week prior. Now he had a chance—a strange, surreal chance—to change his fate.
