Chapter #7

Bugging The Ladies

Yukiko examined the thing on her chopstick. It was too small to clearly make out, but it was moving, whatever it was. And making a high pitched noise just barely within the range of her hearing, though it sounded like a high-pitched whine more than anything. And it had a silver marking on its head that almost reminded Yukiko of...

Her eyes widened, then she closed them and shook the strange thought from her head. She really had Yu Narukami on the brain lately. She needed to get that out of her system before he visited.

"What's wrong, Yukiko?" Chie asked, watching Yukiko look at her chopstick with a concerned expression.

"Junes seems to have a bug problem. We should let Yosuke know."

Yu's heart fell as he still clung to the chopstick. Yukiko thought he was a bug. He shook his head and resolutely vowed not to blame his friend for this. After all, who would conclude that there was a tiny human in front of them when "bug" was such a more plausible answer? Still... maybe Yukiko could use glasses in the real world too.

In the distance, Chie reacted in her usual way to the presence of bugs. While Yu found it oddly cute at normal size, it did firmly reinforce his earlier decision not to approach that side of the table.

"Oh, ew, there's a bug on your chopstick?! Gross!" Chie leaned away from the table in apprehension.

Yukiko smirked. She saw a golden opportunity to get some payback against Chie for accidentally opening old wounds earlier. She loved her best friend dearly, but she could have worse tact than Teddie sometimes. She took the chopstick, bug still firmly attached, and held it out towards Chie.

"Aw, what are you so worried about Chie? It's just a little bug. Look, it wants to say hello!"

"YUKIKO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" both Chie and Yu yelled at the same time, though Yukiko could only hear the former. Yukiko slowly brought Yu closer and closer to Chie, who was getting more and more creeped out. Yu, meanwhile was treated to a giant vista of his squeamish friend coming ever closer, the dread of her inevitable violent reaction and the fact that there ways no way he could prevent it making him far more scared of her than she was of him. Much like a real bug would be, he thought.

Chie lost her nerve quickly, slapping the chopstick out of Yukiko's hand and sending it far over their heads with an undignified shriek. Yukiko finally lost her composure and broke down laughing.

"PFFTT HAHAHA HA! OH, CHIE! THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE! HA HA HA HA..."

Her fear forgotten, Chie just sighed and shook her head at her friend. "Yukiko, you troll." This made Yukiko laugh harder. "Come on," Chie said, pushing her half finished meal away. "Let's go find Yosuke. I don't even want to finish this now, if there are bugs here. God, what if they're in the food," Chie got a look of disgusted panic on her face. "Oh god, what if I ate some?!"

"Don't worry, Chie," Yukiko said, getting her laughter under control. "I'm sure only some of them will lay eggs in your stomach."

"THAT'S NOT FUNNY, YUKIKO!" Chie shouted. Yukiko only laughed again.

Yu, meanwhile had lost his grip on the chopstick after Chie slapped it away, and was hurtling back towards Yukiko. He landed...

You have the following choices:

1. ...in Yukiko's hair.

2. ...down Yukiko's blouse.

3. ...on the floor near Yukiko's feet, somehow unharmed.
