This choice: Skipping ahead to Saturday. • Go Back... Mainly due to Joanne's 'talents' as an ancient witch, the preparations for Carly's anniversary went without a hitch, and come late Saturday morning everything was set in the Riverside Inn. There was a buffet laid out, beverages available and several dedicated staff on hand (a barman and several servers) Joanne was the first person there, dressed in a form fitting red dress and a pair of white, high heel pumps, she was accompanied by her average boyfriend Russell, who was also unaware of his girlfriend's true identity and age. The real reason Joanne had started dated Russell in the first place, was because she reminded him of a man she had a relationship with in the 1920's, over in Chicago.
"Wow, they really dressed this place up." Carly said in amazement upon entering the establishment with her new boyfriend Darren in tow. Carly was wearing a fetching, short black dress and a pair of zebra-print, high heel pumps (that matched her purse). The 4-inch heels boosted her height to 5'6".
"I agree, I love it." Zoe smiled, as she also entered the inn, accompanied by her husband Chris and their six-year old daughter Arissia. Zoe now stood 6'1" in height due to the black patent pumps she wore, which complimented her teal-colored skirt and white, short-sleeved blouse nicely.
"I aim to please." Joanne giggled, taking a sip of her wine. The decorations and banners were her idea, and the subtle 8 YEAR ANNIVERSARY banner in particular was striking, in an elegant font on a pink background. As the three beauticians (really two beauticians and a witch) got to chatting and settling in, they waited the arrival of the other guests.
The first to arrive was Steven, who was alone, and after Carly had greeted him, he went over to the bar to order a coke, since he didn't drink alcohol much.
Next to arrive was Waggy and her husband Dave, both dressed nice, the former wearing a lavender, calf-length, shoulder-strap dress and a pair of black suede pumps with 3-inch heels.
Then in order over the next half hour, Laura and Charlotte, both of whom were currently single, Rebekah and her Spanish boyfriend Sebastian, Liam and Rob, also on their own but entering together, Jodie arrived in a taxi on her own, and Luke arrived with his girlfriend Rachel.
The rest of the Wilko staff, and some others, including Carly's mother Andrea and other former employees Nicola and Helen and their husbands, also trickled in. The next to last people to arrive were Liz and her 50-year old husband Eric, who had arrived late because they'd had trouble arranging a babysitter to look after their toddler son Ethan. Carly was delighted to see Liz had managed to make it, and complimented her on her 'attractive' outfit, namely a white top with lace detail, a fairly long purple cardigan, boot-cut black trousers and a pair of black ballet flats.
The last three guests to finally arrive, somewhat later than expected, were Emma, her husband Kyle, and their 14-year old daughter Alice, who was one of only a few children over a certain age who were present. Carly, although she didn't know some of the Wilko staff as much as she knew others, went around to everyone and thanked them for coming, along with Zoe. Meanwhile, Joanne (Zelda) was stood sipping her wine, preparing to begin her fun. She was delighted at the number of people present, this gave her plenty to work with.
