Chapter #5

A Difference in Stride

    by: Azazel-8 Author IconMail Icon
Seeing the awe-inspiring giantess offering her one last wave, Holly enthusiastically waved back before allowing her eyes to trail down over the entirety of this massive woman’s retreating form. As her faced turned away her long red hair fanned out behind her on a gust of wind blowing down from the mountains. Slender shoulders sat above prominent breasts, the angle of the path allowing the tiny healer to see the edge of the right breast beyond the gentle slope of Liara’s back. Further down a narrow waist flared into wide hips, the lowest reaches of the redhead’s cheeks peeking out from beneath the hem of her dress as she bounced down the path. Beneath that, long slender legs rose and fell rhythmically, lifting smooth if somewhat dirty soles into the air to slam down on the path again and again. And there, barely visible against the ball of the left foot was…

“Jet!” The wonder that Holly had felt was suddenly replaced with terror as she just barely saw the flattened form of her friend adhered to the foot of the giantess moments before it slammed into the ground once more, raising another cloud of dust and debris. For several crucial seconds she was frozen in shock, just watching as Liara pulled further away, before finally lurching into motion and sprinting after her best friend and her unknowing captor. “Wait! Wait! Please stop!”

If Liara had heard Holly she would have stopped. If she had known what was happening beneath her feet she would probably have cried. The redhead was always accommodating to the smaller races, human or otherwise, and would have spared as much time as needed to settle whatever was on the healer’s mind, but the sound of a human, from behind and at ground level, is little more than the tweeting of a distant bird to a giantess, audible only if specific attention is being paid. So it was that, instead of stopping, Liara actually increased her pace, moving from a sedate walk to a more powerful stride as she closed in on her home town and a chance to rest at last.

“No! Jet!” Even as the giantess began to pull away from her Holly still tried to give chase. No matter how many unfortunate incidents may have occurred over the last week, Jet was still her very best friend in the whole world, and it broke her heart to see her being taken away like this. Worse, she knew at least part of this was her fault, and that there was no way the thief would have gotten stuck like that without the rubberfy curse, though then she may have been killed instead. Regardless of her intentions however, there was simply no way Holly could hope to keep up with Liara’s massive strides, a single step for the redhead carrying her over a distance Holly couldn’t hope to match. Never the fittest person at the best of times, the healer eventually gave up on running, slowing to a more manageable pace and vowing that she’d find a way to save her friend eventually.

Meanwhile, unaware of events outside, Jet was suffering in agony beneath her unaware captor’s left foot. When the massive sole had come down it had compacted her face-first against the ball of the foot and she was now forced to periodically endure the weight of this goddess-like being as she carried her who-knows-where. While it would be true to say that the flesh of Liara’s foot was more giving than the boulder she had been crushed by a week ago, it was entirely evident that the redhead did not frequently wear footwear, if ever, as her soles were well hardened from a lifetime of being slammed into the ground and in many ways pressed down harder than the ground beneath. More significantly, the weight of that boulder couldn’t hold a candle to the weight of this woman.

Any hope that Jet may have had for peeling off the foot was quickly lost as a fresh layer of dirt and grime was caked over her body, each footstep packing in a little bit more to gradually obscure her twisted and tortured body from view beneath the dust and twigs. Even if Holly had someone been able to catch up, it was doubtful she would have been able to see the unfortunate thief at this point, and there was every chance that she’d have concluded her to have fallen off and send Liara on her way. Though unable to see any of this from her position, Jet could feel the unpleasant sensation of the muck spreading across her back, even as the hard stones and brambles beneath tore and scrapped at her clothes, ripping them from her body. And she knew. She knew that if nothing happened to save her soon, she could remain trapped here for a very long time.

Blissfully ignorant to the concerns of either of the humans, Liara didn’t feel even the slightest hint of Jet’s presence as she strode up the checkpoint, exchanging a cheery wave with the guard before stepping through. Reaching the township proper would require going a bit further uphill, over rougher and stonier ground, but that was of no concern to the redhead. She’d tread this path many times before after all, and there was no reason why this time would be any different. Her tiny passenger would receive no mercy as she began her ascent, and by the time Holly reached the checkpoint to speak with the guard and attempt to gain entry, the giantess was long gone.

Built similar to a human township, albeit on a much larger scale, the village of the giantesses had all the usual facilities such a town would offer. Scattered among the various houses were a number of common areas, ranging from communal eating halls to public baths, and various businesses and workshops that catered to the community’s needs, including a library, a blacksmith, and a musician’s tower. Right now though, after being away for so long, Liara had only one destination in mind.
