Chapter #6Courtney's Cover-Up by: Unknown Pat sighed as he walked into the living room and found Courtney with the Cosmic Staff laying in her lap. She appeared to be closely inspecting the shaft, as though looking for a seam or imperfection, some sign that it had been built by a person. He knew she wouldn't find anything. He'd looked on his own many times after Sylvester's death. But that wasn't his worry right now.
"Courtney! What are you doing with that out here? Mike or your mother could see."
Courtney rolled her eyes at her step father. He was far too cautious about these sorts of things. "Mike is delivering papers, and mom shouldn't be home for at least another 30 minutes. I just want to see if I can figure out how this thing works. It seems like there's a tiny button here, but I'm not sure if I can hit it..."

Courtney's finger pressed the tiny button down, and the staff lit up instantly, this time with a pinkish glow instead of its normal white. It fired a beam before she could react, striking a surprised Pat dead in the chest. He disappeared instantly.
"Pat!" Courtney shrieked, jumping off the couch. She was afraid she'd see nothing but a scorch mark and a pile of ash in the spot where he'd been standing. The thought that she had vaporized her stepfather had pushed every other out of her mind. So it came as a relief, if still a shock, when she instead saw a tiny version of Pat standing on the floor before her bare feet. She was so distracted by this development that she didn't even pay attention as the staff flew out of the room and down into the basement.
"Pat?" Courtney's question boomed in the tiny man's ears. He had to crane his neck just to look up to the face of his 5'2" step daughter. Now she seemed several times the height of S.T.R.I.P.E.
"What did you do Courtney?" Pat asked. He'd never seen Starman do something like this with the staff.
Courtney could tell Pat was saying something, but she couldn't hear his now much quieter voice.
"Just a sec, let me move you somewhere I can hear you."
Pat reflexively tried to run as the blonde giantess's hand shot down towards him, but he was nowhere near fast enough. Her hand closed around his waist, fingers wrapping around his torso like she was holding a can of soda. He felt air rushing past his ears as she hoisted him into the air and carried him for a few steps. He could tell she was trying to be gentle, but at this size every movement was jarring to him. He was relieved when she finally placed him down on the couch, right where she had been sitting. He could feel the cushion was still warm.
Courtney kneeled down in front of him, bringing her chin down to the cushion he was standing on. Her green eyes stared at him, still wide with shock. He could feel her minty breath washing over him.
"I'm so sorry Pat, we'll figure out how to fix this. I'm sure if I just experiment with the staff a bit more..." Courtney began.
"No more experimenting!" Pat yelled. "I think there are some old documents about the staff in the basement. If we can find them, maybe there is some description of how this shrinking thing works." Pat wasn't overly optimistic about this though. After all, he'd known Sylvester the entire time he was Starman, and he'd never seen him do anything like this. Before he could say more though, their conversation was interrupted by the sound of heels approaching the front door.
"Oh no, Mom's home!" Courtney whispered forcefully, almost blowing Pat over.
Courtney jumped to her feet in panic as she heard the door knob turn. Her mom was home! She couldn't let her mom see Pat like this! She had to hide him. She had only seconds to act, and only one idea presented itself. Pat wasn't going to like it though. She turned her back to Pat, letting her jean clad rear end hang in the air over him, blocking out his ability to see the door. "Sorry about this Pat." she whispered, and began to sit.
Pat realized what was happening seconds before impact. "No Court this is a bad id-" Pat began, but was cut off by the impact of his tremendous step daughter's butt crashing down on him. He was pinned right under a denim wrapped butt cheek, splayed flat on his back like a starfish. He instinctively tried to push her off of him, but he couldn't move her an inch.
"Oh hey mom. What's up?" Courtney did her best to sound casual, but it wasn't easy. She could feel Pat weakly kicking at her butt cheek, no doubt trying to make her stand up. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option.
"Hey Courtney. Have you seen Pat?" Barbara asked.
"Nope, sorry, no Pat here. Just me." Courtney said, speaking just a little too fast. He was squirming more frantically now, no doubt hoping Barbara would hear him. She pushed her weight down on the couch, trying to keep him still.
Barbara gave her a strange look, but decided not to say anything about her daughter's weird behavior.
Meanwhile, Pat was having trouble breathing as Courtney pressed her ass down on his chest. He stopped moving, and she instantly eased up. Clearly fighting against her butt was not going to be the answer here
What happens?
1. Courtney manages to subtly sneak Pat into her back pocket before telling her mom she has to do a school project. She heads to meet Beth, hoping Dr. Midnite's goggles can be of use.
2. Pat successfully pulls himself out from under her, leaving him standing next to her on the couch. But before he can do anything, Barbara sits down next to Courtney.
3. The staff flies back into the room, unexpectedly shrinking Barbara as well. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
