Being lost, there was really only one way to find out where you were. Anyone in a forest would have done this, and well, the fur was as big as trees anyway, so it only made sense. A higher view would let you see what was all around afterall, and then it would be pretty easy to walk up to the ears and get some help. The head was your objective as it seemed safer than being here, assuming you survived this next act.
Walking up to a stalk of fur, you looked up a huge climb to the top, it seemed bigger than earlier, but that was just a fear of the climb striking, that's all. There were no branches or things to help you get up there and it was perfectly smooth too. After a few failed attempts, you eventually find what appears to be a split piece of fur and use it as a rope, put it around the stalk, hold tight and use it to hold yourself against it. Bit by bit you work your way up it like this. Black footprints trail your path upward.
Through the climb, it seems as if the 'rope' is getting more and more slack, yet the 'tree' isn't getting any thinner, not at all. Soon you cannot even hold onto the 'rope', its too heavy and very quickly you end up hugging the strand of fur, its like a giant red-wood now, despite nearly being to the top of it. As you slide down, there is a quick glimps of Sparky's ears in the distance and then they're gone as you slide down to the ground, taking longer to reach it than it took to leave it
At the bottom, you find a huge black mark on the fur, bigger than you were, running the whole way up. It was your footprint. Normally, feet are 1/7 to 1/8th the size of the person, so 1/7 to 1/8th of 1/4th was around 1/32nd of an inch, and you were shorter than them, so you were smaller than that! This forest had just gotten really big, a whole lot bigger than before as now, your pet's head was probably over a kilometer away. Briefly you consider sliding down the legs, but then realize you'd have to get through 1000ft of toes too.
