As Lynn entered the staff lounge, Steve quietly followed, noting that they were the only two in there. “Hey Lynn,” Steve said, grabbing her attention. “How are you?”
Turning her head, Lynn smiled. “Oh hi Steve,” she said cheerfully. “I’m good, just came here to get some work done. What’re you up to?”
Steve shrugged. “Thought I’d come by on a Saturday when it’s quiet. Between us, I’m kind of working on a project and needed to get away from the wife and kids for some quiet.”
Lynn laughed. “I know the feeling. I can never get work done with Simon being around at home.” There was an awkward pause as she thought about what he had said. “What kind of project?”
Steve grinned. He knew he had her attention now. “So this is gonna sound crazy, but I’m actually working on a device that can both change the size of an object, or transform it entirely,” he said, and pulled out the shrink ray to show her.
With a confused stare, Lynn did not know what to make of the device. This sounded like science fiction to her. “Does...does it work?” she said under her breath.
