Since Lisa felt as if she could trust Kenzie with pretty much anything, she began to tell her all about the Shrink Ray her father had been working on. Needless to say, little eight-year-old was shocked but at the same time intrigued. She'd only ever seen shrink rays and stuff in comics or on tv.
Then Lisa showed it to her, which nearly made her eyes bulge. Things only grew more exciting from there as she tested the device in the living room on her dad's favorite couch. The brown leather chair for one shrank down to the size of a goofball and back as her elder cousin fiddled with the two different settings.
She did the same to her mother's coffee table too. One minute it was tiny and the next it was big again. Kenzie almost couldn't believe it, but the proof was right in front of her. "What do you think? Pretty cool, huh."
Pretty cool? This was the most amazing thing little Kenzie Jenkins had ever seen. Nothing was ever going to top this. A real life shrink ray was literally inside her house. "That was... amazing! Can I try?!"
"Woah! Slow down there, cowboy." Lisa smiled as she waved her hand. "This is very sensitive piece of equipment here and you haven't been shrink ray certified yet."
Kenzie pouted. "You made that up."
Lisa couldn't help but chuckle at her little cousin's expression. She was just so darn cute. "Sorry, you have to be a little bigger and a little stronger first."
Kenzie's pout remained before an idea popped into her head. "Does it work on people?"
Lisa was about to answer before she stopped herself. Did the shrink ray work on people. It was a valid question and she assumed so but hadn't actually tested that theory yet. "I think so... maybe. I'm honestly not sure."
"Well... can you test it on me." Kenzie asked.
Lisa tapped her chin. Her cousin was essentially asking to be used as a human guineapig. There were a lot of potential pros and cons here but like her own father she was curious cat when it came to the field of science.
