Kenzie nodded her pretty little head as Lisa pocketed the shrink the ray for the time being. The enlarged eight-year-old wasted no time sprinting into the kitchen with her elder cousin not too far behind. Everything that was once bigger than her or just out of reach was now very much within it.
Lisa could see how excited being tall made her favorite cousin and couldn't help but smile as she marveled at her new perspective in the kitchen. The table was now just below her waste, she could actually reach things that were on the counter with ease, she could even open the freezer without needing a boost.
Then there was the ever-elusive top shelf, the very same one she could never reach without a chair, standing on her brother's shoulders, or her parents. The one that the cookie jar was placed upon that held her mother's sweet homemade goods. For the first time ever, she could reach out her arm and...
Kenzie could feel her heart race as she reached out with both hands and gripped both sides of the cookie jar. She'd really done. She really reached out and grabbed it successfully. It was in her hands and... just wow. "I really did it."
"Yes, you did." Lisa smiled before giving the girl a light pat on the back. "So... you gonna share those cookies or what?"
That seemed to bring the eight-year-old back to reality as she smiled back and placed the jar down on the kitchen table. She carefully took the lid off and stared at the pile of chocolate chip cookies that were just waiting patiently to be consumed. She briefly rubbed her hands to together before reaching down to claim her prize.
Lisa followed suit and both of them were now holding a chocolate chip cookie. "A toast to the new tall girl on the block."
"To the new tall girl on the block." Kenzie giggled. They tapped their cookies together and took their first bite. "Mmm!"
