Debbie was torn. On the one hand, something in her body was aching to finish them off once and for all. On the other, there was an equally powerful emotion telling her that doing this would be a (literal) step too far.
Debbie squished the pair beneath her toes once more, biting her lip, then let off.
She sighed. She really wanted to do it! But she just couldn't.
Debbie fiddled with the shrink ray and pointed it at the two knocked-out newlyweds. And she prepared to squeeze the trigger. This felt terrible. She should be stomping them underfoot! But no, no. Debbie had to grow them back.
Did she?
The idea actually seemed weirdly attractive to Debbie. To not crush them... but leave them here, shrunken! Trapped in their own house, for the rest of their probably short little lives. It somehow made Debbie weak in the knees, the idea that she'd come through like a comet, utterly destroyed the happy life of these two young people, and then would carry on without a care in the world and leave them to pick up the pieces as mite-sized morsels. Would they survive, thrive, have their children on a lonesome corner of the carpet? Would they fashion new clothes from various clots of dust when their current ones predictably wore out? Would they be devoured by some bug or other pest barely a few weeks into their ordeal? Would they starve or be forced to subsist on common detritus like cockroaches?
"Ooooh..." Debbie reached up and rubbed her nipples through her shirt. The possibilities were endless. Crushing them would end the story. But leaving them alive would allow the story to continue, if only in Debbie's mind, for as long as she wanted. And when Debbie was playing with her kids or having sex with her husband, she would always be able to think about those two lovebirds and know in her heart they might be having comparable times, shrunk to the size of insects.
Debbie decided on it. She was not going to grow them back.
"Well, thank you for inviting me into your house!" Debbie called out, turning on the ball of her foot back in the direction of the door. "And have a happy rest of your lives together!"
