This story begins with a seventeen year old girl named Lana Lang, who was originally from a town called Smallville. She moved from—-

In one reality, Smallville is a TV series based on DC comic characters. In Lana’s reality, the characters and settings are real. And Lana isn’t actress Kristin Kreuk playing Lana Lang. She’s Lana Lang who looks like Kristin Kreuk. Except there is no Kristin Kreuk in her reality for her to look like.
Anyway, Lana moved away from Smallville when she was a junior, but not before she was exposed to a multicolored piece of Kryptonite. The exposure had no immediate effect on her, but it would come into play in due time.
Lana moved to a dairy farm owned by distant relatives of hers, who she referred to as Uncle John and Aunt Annette. The two were an elderly couple with a son named Stephen who was four years younger than Lana. Stephen absolutely idolized his cousin, and had a huge crush on her. Lana in return adored her younger cousin, appreciating his shy, sweet nature.
The nearest high school was in the small hamlet of Farmville. Lana tried out for the cheerleading squad and got a slot. But other than her fellow cheerleaders, Lana had no social life, and certainly no dating life. Thus made her very popular with her fellow cheerleaders, who were glad they didn’t have to deal with Lana as a potential competitor.
A couple of weeks before her graduation, her aunt and uncle sold the dairy farm, just keeping the farm house and a couple of acres around it. They used part of the proceeds of the sale to book luxury cabins in an around the world cruise. The elderly couple wasn’t worried about leaving Lana and Stephen alone. They knew Lana was responsible, and she would have no problem with her thirteen year old cousin.
Lana’s shrinking story begins the first weekend after her aunt and uncle leave. That’s when the delayed effect of the multicolored kryptonite kicked in. It happened when
