This choice: Wait, what about the kids? • Go Back...Chapter #5Wait, what about the kids? by: Mr.Domino   While the adults of both families were undergoing their own major changes in the garage, Laura and Jonah Veltman were undergoing changes of their own. 'Magic', however much of an impatient, inconsiderate entity it had been, did not leave the younger humans out of it's changes. It was, after all, against the 'rules', or whatever passed as limitations for impossibly powerful entities not native to this reality, to simply erase beings from existence in totality. It could only alter the fabric of the human reality, not outright remove parts of it.
So as the older, questionably mature humans had their lives and identities altered, so did the younger humans, though Magic left these changes entirely up to it's own subconscious logic rather than controlling the changes, as it had with the older humans.
Laura was the oldest at sixteen, but in the new reality, both of the women were far too young to have a child that old without drastically altering their pasts and thus, altering their relationships to be wholly unsuitable for their current mates. In an instant the years melted off of her, changing her from a teenage girl next door to a young four year old boy as her her name changed from Laura Veltman to Elijah Johnson. She had, in the original reality largely taken after her mother in the looks department and now that her mother was now a man, it was logical that such a strong genetic resemblance would simply be carried over. Though now there were traces of Jennifer within his appearance as the former hoodie and jeans of Laura became a pair of boy's overalls and an Avengers t-shirt with Star Wars light up shows covering his small feet.
Jonah underwent a similar change, his age cutting in half from eight to four as well, as his gender shifted from male to female. Carly was a younger woman, and her genes were, in a way, slightly more robust than Randy's, his age playing just the slightest factor. Jonah's name became Haley newly blond hair ran down the length of her back as his previous shorts and Transformers shirt morphed into a frilly pink dress with a heart studded My Little Pony top with white sandals studded with plastic pink flowers slid between her toes.
In the same amount of time that it took to change the adults, the children were changed as well. Though in order to keep the events of the new timeline in logical order, both children were now sitting on the couch in the Veltman living room, an episode of Teen Titans Go playing mindlessly on the television while a babysitter materialized on the recliner nearby. She was twenty, dirty blonde hair and big green eyes that framed a pretty face, while the rest of her body was clearly that of a cheerleader, a smartphone appearing in her slender hands witth several textbooks, a purse and a backpack appearing next to the recliner. After all, two four years olds would never be expected to take care of themselves.
The changes shimmered away as 'Magic' finished with the adults and curled up into hibernation.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
