It was a very hot day in the kingdom the Fiore in the heights of its summer season, so after 5 minutes of walking, Wendy had already begun to work up a sweat.
She and Natsu had moved far away from the guild for their sparring match. Therefore, it would be about a 15-minute walk back into town before she could reach the guild. Moreover, due to the fact that Wendy was afraid of accidentally crushing Natsu under her foot, she moved slower than normal and more carefully as well. Thereby increasing the length of her journey to the guild.
Although not vocal about it, Wendy actually loved to feel Natsu's tiny body under her foot. Every time his body squirmed under her sole it brought Wendy a lot of pleasure. Deep down, she whispered "Yes ... go on, Natsu! Don't stop!" ... although she quickly scolded herself for such thoughts because Natsu was her friend.
"No! He shouldn't move under my foot in order for me to be pleased! It gives me a sign that he is still alive! Yes!" Wendy thought, justifying her selfless thoughts.
Sometime later, the little dragon slayer enters in the guild with an even smaller dragon slayer still in hiding. As always, there was a lot of people around and it was very noisy.
Wendy was looking for the smartest woman in the guild - Levy. But of all her close friends, only Erza was here.
"Hi, Wendy! Have you already returned from your training duel? Where is Natsu?" Erza asked after noticing that Wendy came back alone. Wendy was glad she had met Ezra and could ask her for help.
"He is right here-owwwww!" Wendy screams when she felt something bite her foot. It was Natsu, he reminded Wendy that he wouldn't like for Erza to see him at such a small size. He had to bite Wendy's sole because inside her sock was too wet for him to use his magic. Her sweat was actually strong enough to extinguish his flames.
"Wendy?" Erza asked, looked questioningly at the girl.
"After our duel, he decided to swim in the river....hehehe" Quickly spoke Wendy hopping on one foot and holding the other foot that Natsu bit.
"He is swimming in the river? here?" Erza interrupted, finding wendy's behavior a bit strange.
"More importantly, he left a weak little girl alone! He is so irresponsible!" said Erza shaking her head.
'I'm not a little girl! And I'm not weak! In fact, I defeated Natsu! He is right there! Helpless, under my foot! But I can't tell you this now...' With a little anger mused Wendy. Unable to vocalize her thoughts.
"Ah yes, Erza-san, do you know where Levy is?" asked Wendy, able to stand on both her feet again.
"As always she's reading books in the library. Okay, Wendy, I have to go on a mission! bye!" Erza said, leaving the guild hall in a hurry.
Wendy waved her hand to Erza and went downstairs to the library on the second sublevel. On the first table at the entrance, there was a girl with magic glasses for quick reading. On the table, there were many different books, that the girl was going to read or had already read. It was Levy Mcgarden.
"Hi Wendy," Levy said without interrupting her reading session.
"Hi Levy....sorry I need your help!" Wendy blurted out.
"Sure...what is it," said Levi cheerfully, putting the book down on the table.
Wendy retold everything that happened half an hour ago. Although she was ashamed to say that Natsu was inside her sock, so Wendy kept silent about this fact. After a couple of minutes of silence, Levy finally spoke.
"It sounds unusual! Your magic is air but for some reason it allows you to shrink people. By the way, where is Natsu?" Levy asked, not seeing him in either Wendy's hand or on her shoulder.
"Well...he is....inside my sock...I...I don't have any pockets and I had to hide Natsu somewhere...so...it was the first place that came to my mind" - Said Wendy slowly and uncertainly, blushing like a tomato.
"I will get him out," The little girl said and sat down on the chair. She took off her shoe and then her knee sock. But somehow, Natsu was not there.
"What! Natsu-san? Natsu-san! Where are you! Natsu!" Wendy fell to her knees and looked into her shoe, then turned her sock inside out, but Natsu wasn't there.
The dragon slayers began to panic, various terrible thoughts visited her head: 'What if he fell out of my sock! And what if he got lost in the grass! But something bit my foot! But...'
Levy, who remained calm, wanted to go up to her friend and console her, but suddenly noticed something small and pink stuck to Wendy's sole.
"Wendy, what is on your foot?" asked Levy, pointing to the pink dot.
"What!?" without getting up from her knees, Wendy turned and saw a tiny dot on her sole ... it was Natsu.
"I....told ...you...it was...b...bad idea...!" Natsu croaked ... he was tired but everything was fine with him, not counting his height of course. Levy and Wendy looked at each other and then started laughing loudly.
"Hey! W...What's so funny!" Natsu was indignant. He was already able to speak normally but still couldn't unstick himself from Wendy’s sole.
"Hahahaha, Sorry...Natsu...we can't do anything about it" Levy said clutching at the belly.
After some time, the girls stopped laughing. Wendy unsticks Natsu from her sole and put him on top of the table, at which time Levy brought many heavy books and placed them next to Natsu; for him, they looked like tall mountains. Both girls sit at the table.
"2 and a half centimeters...hmmm," Said Levy measuring Natsu's height and writing all data in a notebook.
Closing the notebook Levy gave a speech in a monotonous voice: "After an hour of research, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that according to the results of the research, I came to the conclusion that Natsu will become normal again." Natsu and Wendy smiled broadly "But...but the bad news is that we can't determine for sure when Natsu will grow back!"
After a few seconds, Natsu spoke first: "What do you mean we can't!"
"I think I explained very clearly. You can become normal tomorrow, maybe in a week, in a month or maybe in a year. Also, I don't know how the process of your growth will occur, whether you will grow gradually or become big instantly."
"One...year..." said Natsu falling to his knees.
"Well, one year is unlikely, most likely you will be so small for a maximum of a month. But it is impossible to say for sure until I see whether your growth changes further or not," said Levy adjusting glasses and removing books from the table.
"But Levy...maybe there is an antidote, another magic?" asked Wendy.
"Most likely there is no antidote! It will take a lot of time to explain ... time is the best healer, Wendy! But not other magic in our guild, there is no one who could help Natsu."
after explanations, Natsu and Wendy were silent for a long time
"Okay, it's too late! Wendy, bring Natsu to your apartment. Don't worry, I will keep this situation a secret ... oh and yes Wendy, I would like you to help me too, but let's discuss it tomorrow, okay?" said Levy as she said goodbye to her friends.
Indeed, they spent the majority of the day in the library. It was already evening, so this time Wendy did not hide Natsu in her socks. There were no people in the guild this late.
However, Wendy faced another problem at home. Namely, where should Natsu sleep?
