Chapter #9Pity the puny pegasus knight by: Arnsley A grin spread across Tharja's face. She had just thought of many spells she'd like to test on her tiny victim.
"This won't hurt much..." she lied, pulling out a wind tome.
Cordelia was normally wary of these tomes, due to the weakness of her pegasus to these spells. At her tiny size, the book was terrifying. "No!" she screamed, as Tharja's tome started to glow. Pointing an index finger at the small woman, Tharja began an incantation. A gust of wind shot from the giant finger, forcing Cordelia to roll to avoid it. She flinched as she felt her hair flapping in the wind, clinging onto the cloth for dear life.
"That wasn't very interesting...." mused the mage, "how about this one..?"
Cordelia suddenly felt herself lifting into the air. Gasping, she was rotated forward, her limbs glowing purple. Held by an invisible force, she was forced to face the giant mage. Tharja was holding a dark magic tome, no doubt what was levitating the tiny knight.
"What if I do... this?" Tharja queried, a force pulling Cordelia's limbs in different directions. She was already sore from her previous ordeal, but this spell was much worse. Scrunching her eyes shut, she could only endure this latest torture.
"Stop... You're really hurting me!" Cordelia pleaded, feeling like she was about to rip into pieces.
"Fie... Very well..." Tharja conceded, the magic fading. She quickly caught her test subject in her hand.
"How about this spell I found earlier? I wonder if it interacts with your one..." the mage pondered, grabbing another dark magic tome.
Cordelia hadn't recovered from the last spell when she felt another take hold. She felt like she was falling into her makeshift clothing and into Tharja's hand. The familiarity of this feeling clued her into what was happening. She was shrinking again!
"No!" Cordelia squealed as she rapidly shrank. Surely she couldn't get much smaller? Yet she continued to dwindle, the previously reasonably-sized rag enveloping her. Plucked into the air mid-shrink by ebony nails, she was placed onto her former clothing, now more the size of a carpet. Cordelia couldn't even figure out how small she was when the shrinking stopped. A giant eye filled the sky, she must have been smaller than its pupil.
"I can barely see you!" a booming voice exclaimed, "What an amazing combined effect!"
Cordelia whimpered, utterly overwhelmed. What could she possibly do at this size? If she escaped, no-one would even find her again!
"I'd better grow you back, I don't want to crush such a valuable test subject." The magic returned, growing Cordelia this time, returning her to 2 inches tall.
"What next?" pondered Tharja, only to stop when she heard a tiny sniffle.
"Why..." Cordelia cried, "Why are you doing this to me? All I wanted... was some help from a friend."
Despite herself, Tharja felt very sad for the tiny woman. She carefully replaced Cordelia on the desk. She then strode out of the knight's sight. Ripping sounds filled the air, confusing Cordelia, and the giant mage returned. Cordelia jumped as a jar was thumped onto the table, followed by scraps of fabric.
"Sleep in that for the night," Tharja commanded, "I need to see if the effects wear off. We'll turn you back in the morning."
The mage left the room before Cordelia could ask any questions. Did she feel bad for her? She felt quite pathetic, breaking down like that.
Cordelia's thoughts snapped back into reality. She was alone, could she escape? Though Tharja had seemed genuinely remorseful, perhaps she could trust her friend? | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
