Chapter #6

Get Out

It was so tempting, all you had to do was push the button and Jacqueline would be little more than an ant. It would serve her right for what she was about to do to you and all the other times she jumped to accuse you despite your innocence.

Oh you could picture it now, poor little Jacqueline lost in the fiber forest. Struggling to survive against the dangerous giants and the occasional household insect. Honestly that was what she deserved.

...But for some odd reason that alluded even you, you just couldn't go through with it.

Perhaps it was that stupid look on her face? How terrified she was that you were going to give her her just deserts. She was just so helpless and scared, a far cry from how she was a few seconds earlier. She'd been in control and ready to drop the hammer, now she was back against the wall and ready to cry.

As much as you wanted to teach her a lesson for a change, you found yourself unable to do the deed. Maybe it was the fact that she was family that stopped you and the fact family could get under your skin like no other? Either way you felt you arm lower and you let out a frustrated sigh.

Jacqueline seemed to take notice of this as well and tried her best to let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding. "E-Ethan?" she tried.

"Get out." you whispered.

"Ethan I--"

"GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!" you snapped.

Jacqueline looked shocked by your outburst, she wanted to say something, anything to try and salvage this situation, but between your clear fury and the remote in your grasp, she did the only feasible thing she could. She let her tears fall as she hung her head in shame.

Slowly she reached for the doorknob and turned away. "I'm sorry." she said one last time before taking her leave and shutting the door behind her. You stared at the door for a solid minute and felt your rage begin to die down ever so slightly. Silently, you cursed your own weakness.

You carelessly tossed the remote onto your bed before taking a seat. Jacqueline really knew how to piss you off. Today however she'd crossed the line.

"Shit." You cursed.

While you tried your best to clear your head, Jacqueline continued to drown in the cluttered mess that was her own. Why was she so judgmental of you? You were her younger brother, she was supposed to love and protect you. Yet, today she almost put your life in peril because of her damn habit of assuming.

If you hadn't caught her off guard with that bum rush then who knows what would've happened? Just what the hell was wrong with her. She could've killed you.

"You could've killed me!"

She winced at the memory.

"What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty!?"

She really was awful. She needed to do something to make this all right. If not then your relationship might be permanently shattered, if wasn't already.

"I need to make this right." Jacqueline said to herself.

She just had to fix this.
