This choice: Steven goes back to work for now. • Go Back...Chapter #6Steven goes back to work for now. by: adianjayz   Taking a quick glance at his smartphone, Steven realized that it was already very late in the afternoon, and he still had some aisles to stock before calling it a day. "As long as I have my smartphone with me, I can possess anyone anytime. But I should finish my work before Liz or Natalie hunts me down as well," Steven thought.
Walking back to the unstocked aisles, Steven resumed his monotonous work. He found himself unable to fully concentrate on his work, as his mind constantly wandered back to his experience earlier today. Occasionally, he would stock the shelves incorrectly. The feeling was similar to a child receiving a new toy; once the toy was introduced, the child can not simply move away from that new toy. Steven was itching to break this humdrum routine for anything interesting.
After stocking half of the unstocked aisles, Steven decided that it was a good time to take a break. He wandered to the main area of the store for something interesting. On one side, he saw Alex staring intently at his phone, as if pondering a very critical decision. Steven remembered that Alex was also a new hire, similar to Nathan. Alex had an average body frame with standard black trousers and Wilko uniform. Upon seeing Alex, Steven recalled a recent conversation with Alex several nights ago, where Alex was wondering if he should ask a girl out. Alex said that he met this Chinese girl at a party once and wanted to ask her out on a date. But as a consequence of his social awkwardess, he was hesitant to ask her out in fear of rejection.
As Steven started to amble toward Alex, he heard a customer yell, "Are you telling me that I can't refund this?!" Turning around, Steven saw a distraught businessman shouting at Michelle, another new employee at Wilko. Wearing the familiar black slacks and Wilko uniform, Michelle had a nice figure with her brown hair tied in a ponytail. But right now, Michelle looked flustered as she seemed to struggle with the customer's demands.
Looking from the side, Steven wanted to help both people with their issues, and with his newfound power, Steven had just the plan. He thought about possessing one of the two to help, but he also became hesitant. He thought, "Is it such a good idea to mess with them like this, even with good intentions? Or maybe I should look for someone else to possess that would lead to less consequences?"   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
