As light flooded into the room, it started to look more familiar... more mundane. Steadying herself against the wall, Emma took a slow deep breath. The shapes that had made her think of torture equipment, changed into exercise equipment, and not the selection of racks, and so forth.
Releasing the breath, with a slow hiss, she felt deflated.... relieved. The equipment, was oddly in good condition. Needing to relax, she sat down and gathered her racing thoughts. Panic had almost led to her screaming the house down... and her friends charging in to find her terrified of an empty room.
Turning around on her seat, Emma looked at the bar over her head. She needed to burn off some of this nervous energy. Reaching up, she took it, and cautiously gave it a pull.
It was situations like this... that made her feel vulnerable and weak. The gym was an alien world to her. If anything her arms looked skinnier and more pathetic here.
