Plus, Jaune wasn’t sure if he could trust himself with that much power.
He raced across Beacon toward the dorms. Blake’s body was smaller than his, but much more lithe and athletic. It was quite astonishing how fast he felt he was going. The extra set of cat ears on his head were picking up conversation and noises he would never have heard normally. The only people who glanced at him did so because he was running. The cat ears on his head went unnoticed. The lack of a bra and his lose pants were a little uncomfortable, but time was of the essence.
He needed to find his best friend, Ruby.
Stopping at Team RWBY’s dorm, Jaune knocked quickly.
“I swear, Arc. If this is another lame flirt attempt, I will end you.” Weiss did not look amused at him being there. However, she instantly recognized him as Jaune, even with Blake’s body.
“Not today, Weiss.” He assured her. “I need to talk to Ruby… but if you were interested-…”
“No.” Weiss turned around. “Ruby. Get that dunderhead to go away.”
“Hey, Jaune.” Ruby said, showing up at the door. “What’s up?”
“I need to show you something, privately. Now!” Jaune grabbed her hand and pulled her after him into his room across the hall.
“Wait up!” Ruby cried, not used to being the one being pulled. She was used to pulling others.
“So,” Jaune asked Ruby. He was glad the rest of his team were out. “Notice anything different?”
“What?” Ruby looked completely confused. “That doesn’t make any sense. Why did we have to rush to your room?”
“Come on, Ruby.” Jaune pressed. “You don’t notice anything different? At all?” He gestured to his head and body.
“Did you, like get a haircut?” She asked and he face palmed.
“I suppose I can’t really blame you,” Jaune admitted. “The instructions did say people wouldn’t notice.”
“Notice what?” Ruby actually looked interested now. “What are you hiding? Tell me!”
“Hold this.” Jaune told her and she looked at the device in his hand.
“Is that a remote?”
“Trust me. Hold it with me. I’ll exlain everything in a minute.”
“Oookay?” She did so and Jaune hit the Undo Button.
Ruby’s jaw fell open.
“You… you… you were Blake!” She cried out when finally finding the words.
“Actually, I just had her body.” Jaune corrected her. “There’s a Life Swap option for that.”
“Where... but… how!” Words were failing Ruby again.
It took Jaune a bit to explain. He told her how he came across it, what the instructions said, and he only tested it on Blake because she was nearby. He also didn’t expect it to work. Ruby asked dozens of questions, most of which he couldn’t answer. He had only been part of one swap. There had been no time to do anything else, let alone explore Blake’s body.
“So, why show it to me?” Ruby asked.
“I… kind of wanted to show it to someone,” Jaune admitted. “This remote was too awesome to keep to myself and since you are my best friend, I figured we could have some fun.”
Ruby looked at him for a moment, before a huge smile appeared on her face.
“Of course! This is going to be great!”
