"You'll be staying here for a while" Kingsley pointed out, and Hermione nodded.
"It's probably for the best" Hermione pointed out "It might upset Mrs Weasley, if she learned that I have been carrying you in my stomach" Hermione's voice resonated around Harry "even though the potion stopped me from digesting you, you know how protective of you Mrs Weasley is. Sometimes I think she sees you as another of her own children."
Harry had to admit she had a point, he didn't want to panic Mrs Weasley, but he also didn't know how long he would remain in Hermione's stomach, or if there was any risk that the potion might wear off. Harry felt safe enough for the moment, but that would change if he felt Hermione's stomach acids start to work upon him. He trusted Hermione, and surely she would know the potion she had used, but any hint of searing pain, and he would start kicking her stomach walls like his life depended on it.
For the moment, his world was one of total darkness; there was no sign of light inside Hermione's stomach, and he could somehow hear what was happening around him, but he wasn't sure if Hermione could hear him, nor why should she? There was little chance that his tiny voice could pass through her body, to reach her ears. The only way he had managed to make himself known so far was by tapping against her body, causing nerve signals to pass to her brain. Harry also noted that it was incredibly warm where he was, after all, the human body maintained an internal temperature that was warmer than he was used to. He wasn't exactly boiling up, but with the acid bath of Hermione's stomach, safe as it was for the moment, it brought to his mind the impression of being inside a darkened sauna.
Whilst Harry still felt safe, the meal that Hermione had eaten earlier had all but gone. Was that the point at which he would be passed from her stomach to her intestines? He had never been swallowed before, he had no idea when the next stage would kick in. All he could do was wait for it to happen. In the darkness, he could not see any sign of the exit passage.
Hermione had made her wait to the comfort of the lounge, and had seated herself on Kingsley's sofa. There she sat and pondered her next move, waiting to see when Harry might make some sign that he was emerging from the confines of her stomach. She hoped it wouldn't take too long. The potion would keep Harry safe whilst it lasted, and she felt sure that it would give him more than enough time to make his natural escape, but all potions wear off eventually.
She also considered what she might do with Harry when he did come out. The hardest part of their journey was over, but they still weren't at The Burrow. How would they get there with Harry, would she have to continue to hide him somehow? Despite Mrs Weasley's feelings, would it be best to wait until they got there before she allowed Harry out of her stomach? Hermione did not have immediate answers to these questions. What she wouldn't give to have access to the Hogwarts library at that point, or even a reasonably stocked bookshelf. Did Kingsley store any books in his flat?
