The vial hissed as Evan unscrewed the top from it. Before he opened it, the liquid inside looked extremely runny. But when the liquid got in contact with the air, the lion noticed it was steadily thickening up and starting to fill to the rim of the vial. Evan panicked. He didn't want the stuff to overflow. Carefully holding the vial as the substance continued to solidify and rise to the top of its container, Evan searched through the kitchen cabinets and found a cup that had been left behind by the previous tenet. The lion was grateful as he hadn't packed much in the way of kitchen items for his trip to Port Zaftig.
He poured the substance into the cup just before it was going to spill over. It trickled out slowly and in thick globs much like pouring cold maple syrup. Once the vial was empty, Evan saw that it had filled about a third of the cup. No, a bit more than a third, closer to half. No, now it was well past half. The lion panicked again as he watched the thick fluid fill up more and more of the cup. He went back to the cupboards to find any other container that the lion could put the expanding liquid in. But the rest of the cabinets were completely empty. The lion glanced over his shoulder and saw that the golden liquid had reached the rim of the cup and would start spilling out onto the counter any second now. He began searching the rest of his apartment for any sort of container at a much faster pace. But after a few minutes of digging around, he couldn't find anything.
Returning to the kitchen counter, the lion expected to see it over-following with the mysterious liquid. But it wasn't. Instead, the fluid had stopped expanding and filled the cup right at its top. The lion picked up the cup being careful not to spill its contents. Raising it to his nose, he sniffed it. It had a sickly sweet aroma to it. Evan purred in delight as he brought the cup to his lips and took a few healthy sips of the substance. It was delicious! It reminded greatly of honey, yet it had a more fruity, flowery flavor to it, a flavor with a much greater depth than any kind of honey he had before.
"This stuff tastes amazing!" Evan muttered to himself as he drank more of the thick fluid. He drank down until half the cup was gone. Pulling the cup away from his mouth, he noticed that lots of the the gooey golden substance was stuck to the fur around his mouth. Evan set the cup back down on the counter and went to the bathroom to wash himself clean. When he came back, the lion saw that the cup was filled right back up to the rim of the cup. This greatly confused the lion, as he took a few more sips of the tasty syrup. This time, he watched as the fluid slowly filled back to the tip of the cup. Time and time again, the lion drank more and watched in amazement as the cup refilled itself. The lion was feeling full, but still he experimented with it. Drinking down until almost all of the fluid was gone, the lion was surprised to find that still the liquid was redoubling itself and filled the cup once more in a matter of minutes. He tried this a few more times, and the exact same result.
The lion placed a paw on his incredibly full stomach which was now sporting a distinct curve thanks to all of that honey-like substance he consumed. It was getting late, and the fullness of his belly was making the lion sleepy. So Evan placed the cup, just as full as ever, on the counter in a place where he was sure it wouldn't get knocked over and went to sleep.
The following morning, the lion laid in bed wondering what to do with his second day in Port Zaftig as he mindless caressed his midsection with a paw. It was no longer bloated, but a very minute layer of pudge had formed on it overnight, though Evan didn't notice. The lion was too busy thinking about how to spend the day. Yesterday was spent all day in his apartment; he hadn't really gotten to see the city yet. So he could go out any explore. Yet he was obsessed about that liquid he found. The lion just couldn't wrap his head around how it was possible that the stuff kept refilling itself over and over again. While it might be the waste of a perfectly good day, Evan thought about experimenting with the substance some more. You know, for science. | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
