Sadly for Lucy, she’d not found anyone needing of her guidance during the assembly. Some misguided and some bored perhaps but none in need of a complete shakeup. As she was packing up to leave however, she heard jeering and muffled crying from down a corridor but none of the teachers, custodians or faculty were paying any attention. Turning to look down, she saw a large group of thuggish looking boys looming over a smaller one. “You’re pathetic, Jackson. You can’t pass class, you can’t get any friends and you can’t even stand up to us. When we’re through with you, you’ll-“
The lead bully was cut off by a loud clearing of the throat and he turned with a sneer to find Lucy tapping her foot snd glaring at him. “Oh good, it’s the feel good geek. What do you want?”
Lucy returned the distasteful look right back at him. “What do you think you’re doing? Picking on someone like that?”
The bully laughed. “Go away, me and my friends are busy teaching Jackson here not to be such a nerd.”

It made me feel so much better, especially after what others say about me.” He suddenly looked down sadly. “Thanks for helping. Kenny and his friends have always hated me and try to hurt me every day.”
Lucy hid her frown as another thought came to her. Maybe he’s the next one. “What’s your name?”
The boy smiled shyly. “Kieran Jackson, Miss Wong.”
Lucy nodded, “I can see you’re a smart boy, Kieran. You want to use your mind but feel held back by your classmates.” Kieran blushed and nodded. “How’re things at home?”
Kieran smiled. “Mom and dad love me lots. It’s just… They don’t have a lot of time for me. They’ve got jobs and responsibilities so I rarely even see them. I just wish we could spend more time together.”
Lucy nodded sympathetically and took a book out from her bag. “Please, take this. Read it whenever you feel down or need some assistance. It’ll help.”
Kieran hugged the book to himself, wobbling slightly as it weighed almost as much as he did. “Thanks, Miss Wong! Have a nice day!”
Kieran waved as Lucy left with a smile on her face. “Another soon to be graduate of Gain-A-Life.” In the meantime, Kieran oooed at the nearby clock and saw that it was…
