This choice: Mick and Nancy take stock of their changes • Go Back...Chapter #5Mick and Nancy take stock of their changes by: sget When the world stopped spinning the two college kids had to grab ahold of one another, just to avoid falling over.
Mick dropped the key in shock, letting it clink back down to the sidewalk in front of her feet. "Oh my God," she exclaimed while looking down at her new taller form. "It was really cursed! You tricked me!"
"No! No," Nancy put his hands up as if surrendering. "That was 100% unintentional. You just caught me off guard."
"What... What did it do to us?" Mick asked softly, calming herself down.
"It's supposed to swap a few random traits between us, I think." Nancy shifted his weight in a vain attempt to get used to standing on the heels he was now in. "Looks like some of them are a bit more obvious than others."
"Alright," Mick sighed. "Alright, let's go to my apartment and try to sort this all out. It's only a ten-minute walk and I really don't want to be freaking out in public like this."
"That's fair," Nancy said. He stooped down to pick up the key Mick dropped, slipped it into his pant pockets, and began following her. "You know my dorm room is a lot closer, right? Just inside? Might be easier on me while I'm wearing these shoes."
"No, I wouldn't feel comfortable in your dorm. Honestly, I just want to be home right now."
After the longest ten minutes of Nancy's life, eventually they reached Mick's apartment building. Finally, he could take a break from stumbling over his own feet and frivolously trying to adjust his junk in Mick's tight panties. He was in awe over how tall building on campus now seemed, despite only losing a few inches of height. But now he could finally rest for a minute, if Mick would ever open the door.
"Shit," she muttered, fiddling with her key some more.
"Something wrong?" Nancy asked, puzzled.
Mick sighed, wiping her brow, and turned back toward him. "My key isn't working. It doesn't fit."
Nancy tapped his heel for a moment, fingering the key in his pocket. "Here, let me try," he said and approached the apartment door. Sliding his own key into the door proved success as the lock released and the door creaked open.
"No way," Mick sighed. "Please don't tell me this means what I think it means."
"I think this might be my apartment now," Nancy smiled awkwardly.
"At least Dani isn't home yet. Hopefully we can get this fixed by then."
"Danny?" Nancy raised an eyebrow quizzically. "That your boyfriend?"
"No, she's my roommate. Or was my roommate, I guess."
"Ah, Dani with an i?" He asked idly as he entered his new apartment.
"Yeah, Dani with an i."
Nancy's eyes widened when he saw the living room, half full of his own things. The other half presumably Mick's friend's. His blue blanket on the couch next to an orange one with palm trees, his gaming console set up under the tv next to a stack of dvds for random sitcoms he'd never seen. Only place where nothing of his was present happened to be beside the door, where a stack of women's shoes were piled up. It'd be guess work to determine which were considered his and which belong to Dani. He dropped down onto the couch with a thump and began prying the feminine shoes from his achy feet.
"So," Mick started as she paced back and forth, "Like you said, some of the changes are obvious. These are definitely your boxers and sneakers I'm wearing, and it looks like you took my apartment."
"You're taller than I was before," added Nancy, who was doing his best to get comfortable on his new couch. "Is that it?"
"I don't think so." Mick put her hand on her hip while she thought. "Tell me your name again?"
"Nancy," he said with missing a beat. "Wait, that's not right."
"Yeah, and I can't help but think of myself as Mick now," she said. "I try to correct myself mentally, but calling myself Nancy just feels wrong."
"Oh, this is so weird." Nancy shifts on the couch. "Want to do it again?"
"What?! Are you crazy?"
"Well, do you know any better ways of getting back to normal?" He added, idly tapping the carpet with his staff.
Mick furrowed her brows. "We don't know what else that thing can do. We certainly don't know if it will put us back to normal. Hell, we don't even know how much it changed us the first time. Clearly, some of the effects aren't so immediately noticeable."
"Come on," Nancy replied calmly. "It's not like it changed anything radical. Hell, nobody even thought there was anything out of place about us when we came here. We should have fun."
"Fun?"
"Think about it. Nobody on the planet has ever experienced anything like this before. We have the power to bend reality... to bend fucking reality! You'll never get another opportunity like this again."
