Chapter #7

Grand Shadow

As you watched the pink legendary take her leave, you got up. You couldn't believe any of this! She couldn't... she couldn't just leave you here like this!

Without thinking, you sprinted in the direction Mew took, pointlessly hoping to keep up. Alas, by the time you made it out of the patch of grass you were trapped into, Mew was already gone, far too high in the serene blue sky for you to be able to see her; as for the pink legendary, she spared one last glance to the ground where she left you, happily giggling to herself for the 'little' prank she had pulled, before fluttering elsewhere.

In the meantime, not knowing of where Mew had gone, unaware that she had left the area already, you kept going in the same direction; you ran for an uncertain amount of time, breathing heavily and sweating just as heavily with no idea how much distance you had covered and how much distance separated you from the pesky pink Pokemon that deprived you of most of your stature.

'Come find me!' you recalled the last and only words she had said. That surely meant she was around, no? This must be some sort of game, a twisted version of hide 'n seek. Surely, Mew hadn't just carelessly left you to die, right!?

Caught in your own musings, you didn't initially take notice that your breath was quickly running out and, only when your body began protesting, you had to stop to catch your breath, feeling your chest hurting and your ears ringing.

This couldn't go on, you thought. You needed to recollect your thoughts: you were shrunk, stranded in the Lush Jungle, on the Akala Island, while the responsible for your current condition was gone who knew where. You were, to sum it up in one word, screwed.

Starting to lose hope, you began looking around, wondering if, by any chance, Mew was around; she wasn't but your examination didn't go to waste: you spotted a cave.

The ideal hiding spot...

Without thinking twice, believing Mew to be hiding in there, you sprinted towards the cave, reaching the entrance in a couple minutes: unsurprisingly, the insides were dark and didn't allow you to see very well.

A bit scared, you walked inside, but didn't get too far, preferring to stick to the light.

"MEW!" you yelled instead, hoping she could hear you, and hoping even more that she was in here to begin with.
"Just come out! This isn't fun!"

Initially, you got no answer, but then something did come out.

Only, it wasn't Mew.

You screamed as a Golbat suddenly came out from the shadows and flew right towards you, wearing a menacing expression as it did.

Its intentions were pretty clear, given the large mouth hanging open. Or maybe not? After all, all Golbat did have their mouths constantly open...

However, whether the bat wanted to make you a snack or not, you never found out, because some dark... thing came from nowhere and knocked the Golbat back, causing it to retreat in the shadows in a hurry.

You stood there, your heart still rattling your chest.

You were saved? But... by whom? Or by what...? You couldn't see very well, as your mysterious savior was avoiding the sunlight.

However, you could see very well the pair of fiery red eyes staring at you from within the shadows.

That was enough to scare you into leaving.

Maybe the creature would let you go?

Without stopping looking at the creature, you began backing up, planning to run away as soon as you got out of the cave; you spared a glance back to check your progress. Then, as your eyes returned to the creature, you discovered the eyes that were staring at you were no longer there.

You had little to no time to wonder where the mysterious creature had gone, because your back was suddenly pressed against a soft wall.

This time, you really had no time at all to react, as you felt the fingers of a soft hand closing around you. The ground left your feet as you were brought up and turned around.

And, finally, you could get your first look at whatever saved you.

It was a Pokemon. Not a common one though.

It had a black, small body, with an oddly-shaped head and two fiery red eyes: the very same eyes that were staring at you earlier.

This Pokemon was... another legendary!

Marshadow! You couldn't believe this!

Marshadow herself was just as surprised as the small human that was in her grasp: she had heard you back when you called out to... Mew?... and had been curious enough to inspect. And, apparently, she was just in time to save the human from becoming a victim of a Golbat.

As for you, you were paralyzed... well, not like you could move much while In Marshadow's gentle, yet firm grip; the legendary continued her examination.

"P-Please let me go..." you stuttered, starting to squirm in the tight fist. Your first experience with a legendary had gotten you where you were now, you had no intention of finding out where the second would get you. Sadly, your struggles were in vain, and you had no other choice but surrender to reality: unless Marshadow willed it, you weren't going to leave.

And, speaking about Marshadow, you wondered: what were her intentions?

You looked up at the legendary's face, hoping to find an answer.
