You continued walking along the path, making your way to Santalune City, while trying to stay close to the tall grass to the side. You wanted to be able to jump in and hide in it if you got spotted by a predatory wild Pokemon or a human who didn’t look like they’d be kind enough to help you. At the same time, you were hoping you’d find someone on the route who could help you. Even if you didn’t find anyone here, the city would provide more opportunities. Ideally, you’d be able to make it to the Pokemon Center or the gym. The nurses or gym leader would definitely be willing to help someone in need.
The gentle breeze felt like a powerful current to your tiny form, rustling the now-giant blades of grass to the side. You anxiously clutched the tiny Poke Balls clipped to your equally tiny belt. You couldn’t help but worry that a wild Pokemon could jump out of this grass at any moment, and based on how tough the giant Swirlix was, you knew you’d stand no chance even if it was a weak foe.
You began thinking about which one of your Pokemon might be the strongest despite being tiny now. Dusknoir was bulky enough to withstand giant Pokemon’s attacks and could use tricky status moves like Confuse Ray or Will-o-Wisp to wear down enemies. Since normal attacks wouldn’t do much damage now, you thought this strategy might work best. Then again, sending out a Pokemon with a type advantage against your giant opponent might give you a better chance of fending them off. Even if you couldn’t beat them, you may be able to hurt them enough to make them give up and run away.
A sudden rustling in the tall grass ahead made you freeze. Your heart hammered in your chest as the grass parted, and a young-looking Pikachu with big, curious eyes peered out. Not normally a strong species, but it would be trouble if it spotted you.
Unfortunately, you were startled by its appearance and didn’t dive into the grass in time. It looked around and saw you, and gasped. Its head tilted to the side in confusion, and its gaze was fixed on you. You were still frozen, and knew it was too late to try hiding. It would easily sniff you out and catch you. All you could do was confront it, or maybe attempt to befriend it.
The yellow furry giant emerged from the grass, and you got a look at the shape of its tail, letting you confirm its gender.
