Whilst the two plucky heroes deliberated upon the route they should take, down below, their choice was already being made for them.
"There's no sense in hiding, time travellers," Shadow exclaimed, making sure they knew they were very unwelcome with a tone laid thick with malice. "Reveal yourselves before me; or else."
Though their arrival was unexpected, the disturbance within the time-space continuum our heroes' jaunt had caused was more than capable of being detected by Shadow (As shown in Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog Issue 167).
Eyes darting frantically between each other, the duo had no choice but to do as he said. Get on his bad side, and it was near-certain the two of them would end up dead, or worse!
"Look, we're- we're getting out, alright?"
Clambering out of the vents with Silver in tow, Gold tried her best to assuage the situation before things got hairy.
'In hindsight,' she made a mental note, 'creeping up on people unexpectedly probably isn't the best course of action.'
Silver, being the far more knowledgeable one about Light Mobius, was left to handle the bulk of negotiations.
Introducing themselves as 'saviours from the future' certainly struck a chord with Shadow, who was more open to their plan of using the masks to 'course-correct' Mobius' current trajectory. Their efforts wouldn't be in vain after all; though it was but the first step, it was still a light of hope nonetheless!
Still, in spite of the amicable atmosphere throughout negotiations, Gold couldn't help but feel a sense of unease around the fallen king. While it may have gone unnoticed by Silver, she had her doubts as to Shadow's sincerity.
Silver told her more than enough about this dark blemish upon Mobius' history - a bloodthirsty tyrant whose lust for total domination drove him to unleashing Perfect Tikhaos. Could he really be trusted?
It would be easy, oh so easy, to just peek into his mind. Just making sure, nothing more than that. While it certainly crossed several ethical boundaries, Silver and she had already done that when they decided to change history. This was minor compared to that.
