Chapter #6

She gets away unchallenged.

As Lisa left the crowd and noise of the protest behind her she glanced around, not seeing that officer around she felt pretty safe. She looked down at where her hands were clasped to her chest holding her shrunken friend safe and sound, she couldn't help but smile at the feeling of having saved him from what would probably be a terrible hate and now actually holding a friend of hers in her hands. In the warm semidarkness of Lisa's hands you were fighting down a panic attack, just a few minutes ago you'd been a person, and now because of a shrink happy officer society no longer considered you a person. Pretty much the only upside was that Lisa had come to your aid, you really hadn't expected her to do something like that but you could imagine only too well what might've happened to you if she hadn't intervened. Fighting back the panic you realized you could hear the beating of Lisa's heart through her breast that you were being held against, it was a steady and comforting sound. As Lisa walked she found a public bench she could sit down on and have a discussion with her little passenger. In the shelter of Lisa's hands you felt as she sat down, and then the fingers sheltering you from the outside world pulled away letting you see the area around the two of you, and looking up you could see Lisa's face smiling down at you. "Hey" she started "You doing alright down there?"
"I mean, I guess about as well as I could be all things considered" You couldn't just dump all your worries about the rest of your life on Lisa here and now, not after she'd saved you.
"Alright, well that's good, I figured we should talk about what to do next... I mean it's not like I can just keep you in my hands forever."
"Alright" you responded, really wishing it could be as simple as that, that you wouldn't need to worry about the fact that your life as a person in the eyes of society was over. Still the two of you began talking and making plans for the immediate future, you were very lucky to have a friend like Lisa both willing and able to help you figure out where to go from here. As you talked Lisa made it clear she was happy to keep you, not as a pet, you were still a person even tiny, but more as just a tiny extra roommate. The first big road bump would be what to do about your classes, it would be very difficult if not impossible for you to finish college like you now were, but Lisa offered to let you spend the next few days just with her while you figured out something else you could do.
