Chapter #7

Madelyn Jones

    by: Wolfer Author IconMail Icon
The Entity stood in front of its mirror as it briefly fondled its breasts while basking in the afterglow of the sex it had almost an hour ago. It had been living as Madelyn Jones, a 34 year old woman who works as an editor and occasional columnist for a modestly sized, progressive outlet. It was a life that the Entity had been living in for the last 16 years. Before then, it had been an overweight freshman with an acne problem at a high school in some other state. It hadn’t been in that form for very long and couldn’t even remember why it had even chose that form in the first place.

However, all the bullying it received quickly became tiresome, so it swapped with Madelyn since she was a cute blonde senior and the rumor around school was that her boyfriend was hung like a horse. Although he didn’t live up to the hype, the Entity still enjoyed skipping its way to the senior prom as the new Madelyn. The original Madelyn of course didn’t like her new change in status as an overweight and acne ridden freshman but that didn’t really matter. Just as predicted, she had a meltdown at school while claiming that her body had been stolen. Of course nobody believed her and it led to some amazing gossip around school for a few weeks. The Entity had no clue what happened to her since her new parents promptly moved her to another school.

After spending a few weeks as a pretty high school senior, the Entity went on to college in Madelyn’s stead. It had been a couple decades since it had last been a college student. Things like going to parties and having random hookups were pretty much the same but all the classes were very different this time around. The Entity ended up majoring in communications and became a journalist. Normally, the Entity found a new “hunt” every few years but being Madelyn turned out to be quite enjoyable; especially since the new societal rage revolved around race and identity theory.

It was fairly easy for the Entity to make a name for itself as Madelyn since it had lived countless lives from virtually every walk of life, so it quickly moved up within the mid-sized publication where Madelyn worked. The Entity enjoyed feeling like an authority figure that people sought life advice from without having any of the responsibility that followed afterwards. Plus, stirring this new societal pot was pretty entertaining. However, like always, it all started to become stale after a decade. Racebaiting may have been fun to dabble in but people were becoming too predictable with it.

Once the Entity finished putting on Madelyn’s bra, it then squeezed its doughy belly and scowled at the small love handles hanging off of its hips in the mirror. Even if Madelyn’s life hadn’t become stale, her body was unfortunately getting to the age where it was becoming harder to keep off any excess weight; which predictably reflected Madelyn’s love life. She was twice divorced, didn’t have any children unless someone considered her two cats as being children and was currently the mistress of a well off but married man. James, her current stud wasn’t really much of a stud at all. He was in his late forties, balding and had quite a beer gut. The only reason why the Entity was even sleeping with him was for the excitement that the affair brought. Unless the Entity wanted to start dieting and exercising, James was the best that Madelyn could do right now.

Like usual though, that excitement faded within a few months and now the Entity was left with an average at best sex life that occurred about once a week. Between Madelyn’s age and her mundane life, the Entity felt that it would be easier to find a new one rather than improve the one it currently had. Although it obviously preferred to be someone younger for the sex, the entertainment value was really the main goal. From the Entity’s perspective, it's next victim was going to be relatively lucky since Madelyn’s life was honestly not that bad compared to some of the others that it has discarded before. Also, they would still have plenty of time to reinvent themselves or start a family if they wished since Madelyn wasn’t that old.

Even after all these millennia, the Entity still couldn't understood why so many women wanted to have children. It personally hated being pregnant and giving birth. It had done so countless times already going as far back to when writing hadn’t even exist yet. It was cumbersome, painful and all of the children always turned out to be just like any other mortal. Thankfully things were different in the 21st century since birth control and abortions have become readily available.

As the Entity finished getting dressed, it thought about how tame it this next “hunt” was going to be. While it did enjoy creating a some chaos every now and then, it wondered if it was starting to go soft. It seemed like only yesterday when the Entity had switched out those white segregationists from Alabama in the early 1960s with the penniless, black women that they hated so much. The Entity couldn’t help but giggle from thinking back on how entertaining it was to watch their role reversal play out. Since the Entity has practically lived through almost the entirety of human existence, it constantly needed to find new ways to keep itself entertained...
