Wanting to go back home at the sight of his mom's car, Jack decided that he should grow back inside the school to avoid raising any suspicion from anyone. He slipped under the door, then headed to the nearest janitor's closet to grow back. Within a few quick moments, Jack was back to normal and he got out of the closet and exited the school oncemore. Walking to the car, Jack noticed out of the corner of his eye the unfamiliar girls watching him and he could hear a few giggles coming from them. Jack laughed to himself, thinking they were a little crazy for giving him such attention, and got in the car.
"Hi sweetie, how was your day?" Carey greeted. "It was okay, just any run of the mill kind of day I guess" Jack chuckled dryly. Carey smiled, then pulled out of the school and on the road home. "So how did the extra credit thing go?" she asked. Jack was puzzled, forgetting for a moment that he had to lie about the shrink ray. "Oh!" he realized, "it went well, got enough points to raise my grade up from a B to a B+ so that's good". Carey nodded in agreement. "Yeah, definitely. Better points for your GPA". After that last remark, silence fell as both Jack and Carey couldn't come up with anything to say. Until, that is, Carey wanted to talk more about the shrink ray.
"So, what was the thing that you used for extra credit? A shrink ray?" Carey questioned. Jack nodded. "So what did you exactly do to get the extra credit? Did you try it out?". Jack explained that he didn't need to use it, he just had to bring it in to the classroom for an inspection. "Did you ever think about trying it out, hon? I mean, a shrink ray is a huge invention, if it properly works, it could be a huge step forward for technology" Carey pushed. Jack laughed. "Do YOU want to try it out, Mom? That's kind of the vibe I'm catching from you". Carey nervously laughed, knowing full well she did. "Well, I don't think it would hurt anything...". Jack laughed again. "Tell you what, Mom. We can try it out at the house when we get back, if that's okay with you?". Even though she thought it might be a little dangerous using it near the house, Carey agreed. She was too excited to really care as much.
When Carey and Jack arrived at the house, they hastily got out of the car and into the house. Both were excited about running a test run. Even though he had already used it at school, Jack felt relieved that he wouldn't have to hide the shrink ray as much around his mom. Carey was just ecstatic about what could be a very useful tool for her, in many different ways. The girls, Izzy and Lucy, hadn't arrived at the house yet. Jack presumed they were still on their way home on the bus or something like that. This was the perfect time to use it.
"So what should we try it out on?" Jack asked. Carey blushed, nervous and ashamed of what she was about to say. "Well, I need to ask a little favor from you, Jack. I have some food stuck in one of my back molars and I can't reach it. I was hoping you would shrink down and get it out for me?". Jack double taked. Was she being serious? If something went wrong, Jack could be seriously harmed or killed! "A-are you sure, Mom?" Jack quivered. Carey nodded. Jack, still scared, nodded slowly and said he would try. Jack handed the shrink ray to his mom and showed her how to properly use it, then stood back away from her and any near furniture. With one swift click, Carey switched on the remote and Jack shrunk down to a few inches. She picked up her now tiny son and brought him to her face.
"Ready?" she asked. Jack nodded and Carey opened her mouth and placed him on her tongue. The first thing Jack noticed was the pungent odor of his mom's coffee breath and the humidity of her mouth. He gagged, but stepped around, looking for the problem. In no time at all, Jack noticed the issue and promptly fixed it, then poking the roof of his mom's mouth to let her know that he was done.
