Chapter #8

Calvin and Hobbes

    by: ejones312 Author IconMail Icon
The boy is a character from the Calvin and Hobbes comic strips.

This comic strip stars Calvin, a hyperactive child with an even more hyperactive imagination, and Hobbes, his stuffed tiger companion who is seen as a live anthropomorphic tiger through Calvin's perspective. Together, they have various misadventures around their neighborhood, including traveling to Mars, traveling through time, and even dealing with evil mutant snowmen.

At some points, Calvin imagines himself as anything his imagination makes him out to be, including a space ranger, a superhero, or even a grumpy husband! Sometimes, he imagines he's a giant, he's been shrunken down and forced to work in an anthill, and even as a pesky fly!

And since Calvin has a very hyperactive imagination that makes the readers believe is realistic, it's only fitting that the following scenarios would be applied to this route. The only question is, which of these scenarios will you choose?

1.) A Little Imagination: Calvin, bored out of his skull while doing his homework, suddenly shrinks down. Things get complicated when Calvin's mother and/or his babysitter, Rosalyn happen to appear shortly after the shrinking occurs, so he must get their attention and get back to his homework.

2.) Pesky Imagination: Calvin's imagination transforms him into an insect, although his head remains intact. He uses his new body to explore his gigantic surroundings, pestering his mother and/or Susie outside for the thrill of it.

3.) Suddenly Susie: Calvin and Hobbes uses the cardboard that transmogrified and duplicated Calvin in the past to shrink them down and use their flying cardboard box to study the insect world up close for a school assignment. While they explore, they are caught by Susie and takes them home, thinking they were an undiscovered species of insect.

4.) A Giant Problem: In Calvin's imagination, he is playing alone in his sandbox when he is eclipsed by a shadow. It turns out the shadows are from the fifty-foot forms of the female characters he tormented, including his mother, Rosalyn, and Susie. Calvin tries to escape his pursuers, but eventually, they catch up to him and tease him the same way he teased them.
