Upon being given permission to explore by her father Olivia saw what to her looked like an abandoned house and decided to explore it as to her no one would live in a house that looks like that, unbeknownst to Olivia however this was the house of her ancestor Amelia Bennet who saw the vague shape Olivia approaching
“Gotta say there isnt as much of A difference between the past and present as you think there’d be” thought Olivia as she continued to walk through the field towards the house
During the walk Olivia had tripped over a large tree root and noticed that she had snagged her jeans causing a noticeable tear but this didn’t affect her as much since she wanted to try the pre torn jeans look for a while but had no opportunity to buy a pair. It was soon after this Olivia reached the house
Upon looking at the house Olivia noticed that up close it was worse than what she had seen from the distance but figured that it would be a given and under the impression that the house was abandoned she opened the front door and began to explore and to her surprise the interior was relatively kept together (compared to the outside)
Olivia noticed a small table that had a picture of a woman who looked strikingly similar to her sitting on it which confused Olivia as she heard having your photo taken in this time was quite the ordeal given how primitive cameras were and it was seen more as a class symbol, while looking at the photo Olivia didn’t hear the sound of footsteps approaching until she heard the unmistakeable sound of a gun and a female voice
“Now sir i kindly ask you to put the photograph down slowly and turn around and face me” said the voice
Olivia followed the voice’s orders but upon turning around she and the woman both gasped at what they saw, Olivia gasped as the woman looked almost completely identical to her, this was also half the reason why the woman pointing the gun gasped as the other half was because the she assumed the person in her home was a man
“Ok now explain the following, 1 who are you, 2 where did you come from and 3 why are you dressed like a man? You should be dressed appropriately for a woman of your age” said the woman
*gulp*
“You’d never believe it in a million years lady” replied Olivia trying to lighten the mood with a little humor
“You would better make it convincing… and don’t talk like that to me young lady” said the woman slightly lowering the gun
“In order of what you asked my name is Olivia Bennet, i come from the future and this is what some women choose to wear”
“Thank you for the truth though if you are from the future and your last name is Bennet then that would make you my descendant as i am Amelia Bennet” said Amelia dropping the gun
*five minutes later*
Amelia and Olivia were now both sitting on chairs not saying anything as they were both fascinated by what the other was wearing, the silence was eventually broken by Olivia as she remembered she had to return to her father and the time machine, after explaining that she had to leave Amelia asked to come with her as she was curious as to what a time machine would look like and Olivia reluctantly agreed to take her
While walking Olivia noticed that Amelia was making sure to avoid damaging her clothes and chocked this up to clothes being harder to buy in this time period but decided not to say anything
Concurrently Amelia took note of how Olivia was walking through the field in what she called jeans, she recognized the material worn by factory workers in the local factories but couldn’t under why a woman would wear such a rough but admittedly comfortable looking material
During the walk Olivia informed Amelia about how different the future is which made Amelia feel quite jealous but she let go of those bad thoughts
After arriving at the time machine Olivia noticed a piece of paper on the front hatch that read
“Olivia if you’re reading this then you will have noticed that i’m not here, this is because i also decided to do some exploring and it might be a while before i come back, hopefully I’ll be back before you but just in case this letter will explain why i’m not hear”
“Great, the old man is gone and who knows when he’ll be back” said Olivia in annoyance
Amelia was concerned that a piece of paper would make someone upset and decided to see what was on it but was surprised to see that there was writing on it but was even more surprised when she realized that Amelia was able to read it as to her learning how to read and write was saved for the upper classes
“Olivia can you tell me what the paper says?” Asked Amelia
“My old man decided to do some exploring of his own and when he goes off on an adventure there’s no telling how long he’ll be gone now i’ll have nothing to do for a while” complained Olivia
“Well i know something we could do until your father returns” said Amelia
“Oh and whats that?” Asked Olivia
“We could swap our clothing, i have to admit your future garments are quite interesting and i wish to know how they feel, so may we switch?” Said Amelia
