“If you want to know if Cat likes fat guys—look at her dad.” Keeley said finally, propped up on her elbow at the cash register, “Trust me.”
"That's odd, you know - I've been at her house more than a few times, and I've never seen her Dad!" Caleb reflects. "I mean, they're not the sort of family who sits down for dinner together - Cat's always on the go, so's her mom, and the rest - but they don't need to, they have a cook, and there's always food ready to go in the fridge or the pantry or the warming oven whenever I'm there. Heck, I've only seen Cat's mom a few times."
"You just sneak in and up to Cat's room without being seen?" Keeley teased Caleb.
"Sneak in? Have you seen all this? There's no way I can sneak in anywhere, not with this body."
"Yeah, I've started to hear the floor squeaking in here whenever you walk by," Keeley noted, then grinned. "And this floor's concrete!" She flung an arm out and smacked Caleb right in one meaty lovehandle, and when Caleb reached for her in return, danced away out of reach.
"You are just so fucking cute when you're upset!" Keeley said, smiling. "But, seriously, you've never seen Cat's Dad?"
"No, never. She has mentioned him once or twice, but I've never seen him. I wonder why?"
"Maybe he travels a lot, and he's always away, like Simon's Dad?"
"Or maybe he just works a lot?"
"Or maybe he's so huge that they keep him in the basement as a secret!" Keeley said with a laugh. "Huge like you're gonna be, if you let Cat keep feeding you up!"
Caleb got really red faced, then turned away from Keeley. He shuffled away, his great head and fat arms drooping, and Keely suddenly realised that she could hear blubbering coming from her co-worker.
"Ah, Caleb, I'm sorry, I didn't really mean that," Keeley said as she caught up withe slowly shambling fat boy. She came around in front of him, and he stopped. "I shouldn't have said that, it was wrong," she apologised.
"No, you're not wrong, that's what I think Cat wants - me so fat I can't get around," Caleb said in a sad monotone. "Why else would she stuff me with so much food and hide her father from me. I mean, he must be HUGE, that's why I've never seen him."
"So," Keeley replied, "Why don't ....
