Chapter #68

Big Things Moving In

    by: Mrphoenix Author IconMail Icon
For as good of a deal this whole thing seemed to be, Haley had come that close to rejecting it outright.

Sure, the prospect of an extra-comfortable new house for next to nothing in return was practically a no-brainer. Haley’s housing situation had grown more and more uncomfortable with each passing day, as she was rapidly outgrowing many of the features one normally took for granted. The hallways were narrower than ever, and each doorway required some assistance to pass through, to the point where Haley didn’t dare attempt to venture out of her room without one of her roommates around to help her out. Taking a bath or shower was out of the question, as the built-in stall had been woefully inadequate almost from day one.

And don’t even get her started on the furniture situation; sure, a lot of it was already well-worn by the time Haley had arrived on the scene, but cracking the foundation of their loveseat with her monumental badonkadonk had truly ticked off Courtney, who was too big for their La-Z-Boy while Haley required full use of the couch. Even Haley's bed was ready to collapse at any moment, with many of its wooden slats having already snapped in half under her immensity.

As much as Haley enjoyed her roommates, it was obvious to everybody that she was quickly outgrowing their house and everything in it, and they weren’t too keen on the prospect of knocking down walls to accommodate her growth.

So, upgrading would be both an enjoyed perk and a necessity. But for all the pros presented, one girthy, goth-dressed con loomed large over the whole situation. And it almost proved to be the death of the whole deal.

Dani’s incentives to move weren’t quite the same as Haley’s. Sure, she’d been growing just as fast and having similar issues around her apartment, but she’d smartly invested in reinforced furniture that counteracted some of the side effects of her near-constant indulgence. Her issues were more financially-driven; her apartment was too small (and Dani was too big) to fit another roommate that could potentially help her out with rent. She’d made do on her salary from the Gazette, but the Yeng money wasn’t quite cutting it.

So, moving in a near-all-expenses-paid furnished house in a gated community would certainly alleviate her financial woes. But despite that, one infantile, hippo-hipped deterrent almost convinced her that homelessness might not be such a bad idea in comparison.

Ultimately, the two did agree to bite the bullet and (gag) move in together, but not before Dani was able to negotiate a few more terms in their favor. There was nothing they could do to reduce the rent, but there were some services Yeng offered that would make their stay that much easier, including maid services and expedited food delivery. Ultimately, they agreed to offer these services at a greatly reduced rate, and Haley was, momentarily, glad to have Dani representing them as such a shrewd negotiator.

Steven and Hannah both failed to mention that these services were already offered at these reduced prices for all Yeng employees, but…it got the two supersized associates to sign the contract, so, no harm, no foul!

After polishing off the remaining sandwiches and snacks, the contract was reluctantly e-signed by both Haley and Dani. Shortly after, they were shuttled back to their respective homes (after a quick pit stop for post-lunch lunch at their chain of choice; hey, Yeng’s still footing the bill, right?) and began to make preparations for their big move.

Courtney and Gabby were obviously shocked and sad that Haley would be leaving, but it was for the best that she live somewhere more accommodating to her size. Of course, Haley would also leave behind a third of the space, meaning Courtney and Gabby would need to replace Haley ASAP. Luckily, between the two, they already had a few potential leads.

A week later, after the Yeng moving truck had loaded up Haley’s meager possessions, Haley shared a tearful goodbye with her roomies, and was driven away.

Dani, living alone, shared no tearful goodbyes, and was just happy to leave behind her nosy landlord and weird neighbors. The Yeng movers had quickly loaded up their truck, and Dani had unceremoniously walked out of her apartment building without so much as a glance behind as she was loaded up into the BMW and whisked away.

The two BMW’s arrived quite a bit later than the moving vans, as the two soon-to-be housemates had both insisted on stopping for much-needed sustenance. In fact, the movers had already finished unloading the girls’ belongings and were pulling out of the driveway when both girls exited their rides, a flood of food wrappers spilling out onto the pavement as they climbed out onto the curb. Their drivers wordlessly cleaned up after them as they huffed and puffed across the driveway and towards the front entrance of the white ranch-style house, before stopping just short of the door to catch their breath.

“Huh, I guess the door is pretty big…” Haley said. “Not, like, huge. I guess I expected something…”

“Bigger? Yeah, I know what you mean. I mean, I think I can fit through there no problem, but your fat ass, I’m not so sure about…”

“Shut up, Wednesday. If you fit, I fit.”

“All right, be my guest.” Dani clenched her fist tight. They hadn’t even gone inside the house, and Dani was about to knock out Haley’s teeth.

Haley strode forward, and did actually clear the entrance…with a few inches to spare. Dani followed Haley’s bouncing cheeks into the house, her own bobbing belly clearing the frame with similarly little room to spare. “At least we fit in the house…barely.”

The hallway between the front door and the living room was, similarly, extra wide, though not wide enough to let anybody pass through if either Haley or Dani were walking through. Dani followed Haley’s wobbling figure into the spacious living room, already furnished with two couches and a media center featuring a large flatscreen, stereo system, and even a PS5!

“Those better be reinforced…” Dani muttered, eyeing the couches.

“I would think so, or what’s the point of all this?” Haley headed off to find her bedroom, and Dani continued to follow close behind. They passed by the large kitchen, though they ignored it for the moment. The bedrooms shared a long hallway, more spacious than they were used to, but less so than they’d hoped for.

“I call this one!” Haley had, of course, picked out the bedroom closest to the kitchen. Again, the doorway was bigger, but it was obvious that the architects of this house had severely underestimated just how big their residents could get. “Oh, my stuff’s already in here anyway…Ah! Welcome basket!” Haley disappeared into her room, slamming her door shut as Dani waddled into the remaining bedroom.

The bedroom was huge, with plenty of room for the Queen-sized bed, nightstand, and extra-large dresser, on which was perched a large basket overflowing with Yeng goodies. The walk-in closet promised plenty of room inside for an expansive wardrobe, something Dani was infinitely grateful for, having grown used to just tossing her clothes onto the nearest chair at her old place.

The attached bathroom was, thankfully, better equipped to handle extra-sized individuals than the rest of the house had been, as the walk-in shower stall was large enough to easily house someone of her (or Haley’s) size, and the nearby bathtub was more akin to a hot tub than the severely restrictive porcelain model at Dani’s apartment.

Dani, exhausted after all of this wandering about, grabbed the basket from the dresser and plopped herself down onto the bed, her hundreds of pounds of flab jostling about at the impact. The bed frame was, obviously, reinforced, and she felt safe enough to dig into her basket with gusto.

In the other bedroom, Haley had already finished off her basket before collapsing onto her bed, and was now scrolling through the Yeng app Hannah had given her access to to navigate the various food delivery options available to her and Dani. Practically every restaurant in town was on this app; Yeng must be doing gangbusters in Spartanburg to be able to get this many businesses on board!

“Oooh, Venus Pie sounds delish…oh, and Oreo Blizzards…oh, God, I can’t wait to tell Courtney all ‘bout this place, she’s gonna freak!”

Dani, similarly dissatisfied with the size of her snack, whipped her phone out and scrolled through the app as well. “M’God, I deserve this, big time. Please tell me they’ve got Venus Pie…oh, fuck yeah…”
