Chapter #4
that Ms. Smith is here to punish you and Sid
by: Unknown
You're convinced that Ms. Smith is here for you and Sid. Why else would a harpy stoop so low as to substitute teach in a high school?
You start mentally retracing all the steps you and Sid took when you two pulled that stunt on the principal last year. From the purchasing of the materials used in the prank, to the prank itself, you and Sid made sure there was absolutely no way that anything could be traced back to you two.
Absolutely no way.
And yet there was a harpy, sitting at the head of your class.
Maybe you and Sid did slip up somewhere. Or maybe Ms. Smith just knew. In the show No Place To Run, the lead character had a "harpy sense" that let her know when someone was innocent or guilty, even if there was no physical evidence to back up her "harpy sense." According to the show, the main character's "harpy sense" wasn't admissible in court. It did, however. always point her in the right direction to get admissible evidence.
In one episode, the main character wasn't able to find the evidence, and took vengeance into her own hands.
But that was all just television, you think to yourself. Ms. Smith didn't have a "harpy sense." And even if she did, why would she be using it to catch two kids who pulled a prank?
But maybe your principal knew somebody who knew somebody, with the end result being a harpy going undercover as a substitute teacher to catch you and Sid for pulling that prank on him.
What would happen if Ms. Smith knew it was you and Sid who did it, but couldn't get that admissible proof? Would she take vengeance into her own hands, like they did on the show?
You steal a quick glance at Sid, and can tell all these same thoughts are going through his head.
For the first time in your high school career, homeroom seems to drag on forever.
Finally the bell rings, and as all the students file out, Ms. Smith
