Chapter #4Keiichi's Ring of Cheating by: Former182   A few days after Keiichi gave Belldandy a ring to symbolize their one year anniversary, his mom, Takano, showed up. Keiichi and Belldandy were surprised, but Urd was oddly pleased.
Probably because Urd was quick to show off Belldandy’s ring, which made Takano rummage through a duffel bag she had on her. She said, “Hey, Keiichi! Keima asked me to deliver the ring I gave him when he gave me my one year anniversary ring! Maybe your sweetie wants you to wear it, so the both of you celebrate your relationship?”
Urd looked towards Keiichi, who said, “Keima’s my dad.”
Urd smiled at Keiichi and said, “Hey, that sounds like a good idea! I can make it fit if it doesn’t.”
Tanako produced the ring. It looked like a simple silver ring. Keiichi looked towards both Urd and Belldandy for what to do. Belldandy nodded once, while Urd vigorously nodded as she gave a thumbs-up.
So Keiichi carefully tried to put on the ring and it fit perfectly. With a nervous smile, he said, “Great, it fits. Thanks, mom. I'll thank Keima tomorrow when I call him.”
Takano said, “I’ll be staying here for a few days. Keima said I deserved a vacation and that he could handle things at home.”

Takano played shogi with Belldandy and Urd for the most part.
Megumi was surprised at Takano showing up without Keima, but didn’t seem to question anything when she came to eat dinner at the temple.
Takano stayed in an unused room. Before Keiichi could go to sleep, Takano showed up and handed him an envelope, saying, “I found it in my bag. It’s addressed to you and it is in Keima’s handwriting. See you in the morning, Keiichi.”
Keiichi sat in his bed, opened the envelope, and read the letter.

Keiichi, if you are reading this, then three things have happened.
Your mother has reached you,
You were given the ring,
And you put it on.
I am deeply sorry for what you will go through, for I know what will happen. You will cheat on your future wife and she will never know. In fact, she will unwittingly help you cheat on her without her knowledge. Do not bother telling her, for something will happen to prevent it.
As for why, the ring is cursed. Once it is on, it can never be removed until you are married. Only then will it fall off. I do not know what would happen if it is put back on, for I was too afraid to find out. I had tried a few times to lose the ring, only for it to return the very next day.
Women, regardless of them being human, alien, or supernatural, will hunt you down and have sex with you. Not even being related will stop them. If you fight back, so will they. The more you succeed in driving them off, the harder the Ring will fight to make you cheat. If you were curious, this is why I became afraid of women, save for those who reminded me of your mother. The fact I cheated on her is why I kept distant from you and Megumi as the two of you were growing up.
I knew the ring would eventually want to go to one of you. So when we heard you were in a relationship, I prayed it would be a quick breakup.
Alas, once the Ring ordered me to send itself to you, I knew that you were in a good relationship that will end in marriage.
The very fact I couldn’t muster up the will to disobey the ring and have forever stained your relationship is a sin I can never be forgiven for. The very fact I am preventing you from ever thinking of your marriage as an honest one is another sin. Do not forgive me, for I do not deserve it.
After the day after I sent your mother to you, I will have sold my business and our home, but you will get most of the money to do whatever you want. Keep it, split it, or give it away. I don’t care. Takano’s, Megumi’s, and your belongings will be sent to a storage building near where you are living.
Do not look for me, as I will have vanished into the wind. I do not deserve a family, as I am a cheating coward. It does not matter if I did not intend to or not. I will also cast aside the family name, as I am a failure.
Also, I have only written this note. If your mother has found another, I did not write it. The Ring produced it. It will do whatever it takes to make sure you cheat.

Keiichi slowly looked at the ring on his finger in surprise before trying to take it off.
He was unable to, no matter how hard he pulled.
Then one of the doors to his room opened, getting his attention. Keiichi opened his mouth to warn them, but no sound left his lips. Then the person walked in and it was...   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
