As suddenly as it had turned white, the world returned to normal, causing Neo to wince as she opened her eyes, looking around with a confused expression before realising she may of drawn that conclusion much too soon. As she looked around the mute thief quickly realised that the entire world seemed to be frozen, everyone in the warehouse was entirely still, neither their bodies or faces moving, they didn’t even look to be moving. Everything was frozen… Except for Neo, and the mysterious interface before her.
As much as she wanted to continue gawking at the frozen world around her, Neopolitan’s attention quickly turned to the screen, looking at it in confusion as several other boxes of information began to appear. The largest, most notable addition to the screen was a large loading bar that looked to be about a quarter complete. Above it in bold text read ‘TOTAL REALITY RANDOMISATION PROGRESS - 25%’
It seemed the world was frozen while these strange changes began to take effect, however before Neo even had a chance to consider this, she noticed another box in the interface, one that looked to be about… Her? It contained all sorts of information about Neo, several aspects of which were beginning to change. The one that drew her attention most was a small line of text reading ’Status - Adult’
Unfortunately for Neo, this didn’t last, and the illusionist felt her face heat up as she watched the text slowly change, going from adult, to teen, to pre-teen, to child, until it finally settled on ‘Baby’.
Needless to say, the mute criminal was far from pleased, and with desperation she poked and prodded at the screen, wanting nothing more than to reverse the change, however no matter what she did, nothing changed, and Neo could only look at the interface anxiously. It seemed that no matter what else changed, Neo would be seen as a baby in this new version of reality.
That being said, there were still several aspects the interface was calculating…
Whether Neo had a caretaker, mommy or daddy, who it was, or even how many she had.
How many people realised reality had changed, or even if Neo herself realised.
Whether Neo was the only person who had been demoted to a baby, or whether other characters were effected too.
And many, many more changes…
Starting with the first decision, the interface began to calculate - Does Neo have a caretaker in this new reality?
