It wasn't too hard to find Studio 7, the buildings on the complex conveniently marked up with large numbers. Jonny walked confidently in the nicely air conditioned studio, gazing around at the nice, minimalistic but trendy set up. Lost in his own thought however, he didn't pay much mind to the receptionist in front of him until she spoke.
"Hi, can I help you?"
She was a pretty young Latino thing, probably not shy of 18 or 19 by his estimates. She could possibly be an intern. Irrespective, she had a nice form that Jonny wouldn't mind hopping at some point... if he wasn't already after more high profile targets today.
"Hey there, I'm working for the team with Miss Swift today. Can you point me in the direction of their booth?" Jonny blagged.
"Ok, I'll just need to check your details in our system. Are you registered?" the receptionist asked as she typed away on her computer.
"I'm not I'm afraid" Jonny replied. He certainly didn't want a paper trail of his name on record if questions were asked later down the line. "But I've already squared it with the gate. They've already sorted me a pass".
"Huh, that's odd sir. Normally the gate will register your details so they come up on my screen. I can take them manually here if you like?" she informed him.
Jonny wasn't in the mood for making up aliases. He thought his clone in the guard would have sorted this out, but he was probably too bust ogling any passing talent.
"No, I've got something else you can take though" he told her. The girl was confused with his somewhat blasé reply but didn't have time to act on it however before she blacked out.
"Right, you can put my name down as Biggius Dickius for all I care, just make sure this bitch or anybody else doesn't disturb us" Jonny commanded.
"Ah give the girl a break boss, she's just trying to do everything by the letter so they employ her full time" the clone replied, spinning around playfully in his chair whilst feeling up his new host. "Besides, you know that those little situations can always be easily resolved".
"I know, but you know how I like to play the part" Jonny sniggered.
"Oh all too well" the clone grinned back, twiddling his luscious locks.
"Anyway, do you know if she's in yet? Need to know if I'm going in head first" Jonny asked.
"She was here with two backing singers but they were a bit too early for the producer, so they went to see somebody a unit across" the receptionist informed him as she flicked through her records.
"Excellent. I'll get the producer on side and we'll go from there. Stay in character until she gets here, got that? Afterwards, you can go finger yourself somewhere, I don't care" Jonny instructed.
"Don't be surprised if I stop by. Those rooms are soundproof after all" the clone slyly said before sinking back into his hosts persona.
"Her booths on the first floor, first on the left. Let me know if there's anything I can get you sir!"
Jonny could only roll his eyes at was essentially his own behavior. Still, at least he knew where to go now. Making a beeline for the stairs, it wasn't long before he found the corridor flanked by recording booths. 'First on the left' he remembered.
As he opened the door, he noticed an older gentleman, possibly in his late 40s / early 50s preparing the soundboard. The vocal booths looked to have already been set up as he added the final touches to his craft. Too bad Jonny was here to interrupt.
"Oh, hey there. Can I, help you?" he said, surprised to see somebody other than the artists he was working with today.
"As a matter of fact, you can!" Jonny cheerfully replied as he felt a wisp break away from him. Before the producer could answer, he felt a ringing in his ears, leading him to hold his head tightly for a moment as something transpired in his brain.
Jonny just took a seat opposite him, putting his feet up as he waited for the mind re-write to finish. The guys eyes rolled up into the back of his head as Jonny's power changed and alerted certain parts of his mind. It wasn't anything drastic, just something to help his new friend with his games.
As the wisp return, the producer blinked a few times before he game too, rubbing his temple slightly.
"Erm, did I just blackout for a second?" he asked tentatively.
"Not that I saw pal" Jonny replied. "Overworked and underpaid, am I right?"
"Yeah, you know too well" the guy laughed as he settled back into his chair. "So, you're with Taylor's entourage?"
"Yeah, I'm her handler" Jonny replied, feeding into the story he written into the guys brain. "Sometimes I mess with her, other times I don't. It is what it is".
"Wow, I won't lie, I'm a bit envious" the producer laughed. "I enjoy my job, don't get me wrong. But I wish that was a role available to me when I first started out".
The two casually chatted away for a little while longer, Jonny listening to the producers stories about his career and how to operate the soundboards. He enjoyed these little moments of calm between the craziness. Sure, he lived for the latter but his new ability to re-write minds allowed him to have some nice, off the cuff conversations with a whole range of people rather than the mad antics of the clones. He'd almost feel bad for sending the guy off later when flexed his powers on an unsuspecting Taylor Swift. But thinking about what he had planned, he was sure he could live with that.
