Chapter #5

Sharon and Tina got the rings

    by: Unknown
Thinking it over Sharon and Tina were their best friends and considering what they been through, they were the most logical pair to give the rings to. But she did want to confirm with her daughter.

"How about Sharon and Tina?" Estella suggested. Bailey thought about it for a second before nodding. "I think they would love it, mom."

"Well, no better time than the presence right?" Estella sat down in the car again and Bailey hopped in as the two went off to Sharon and Tina's place. Unlike Estella and Bailey Sharon and Tina lived in an apartment complex even when Mike, Sharon's husband and Tina's dad, was still alive. They had a few good neighbors and like Sharon used to say: "When's something good you don't fix it."

Putting the car away the women decided to climb the stairs, though at the end of the stairway Estella was tired. "You're not working out enough mom." Bailey giggled. "I-I'd like you to see do the same when you have a body like mine."

Finally before their front door, both women took a ring out of the box and kept it out of sight. Estella rang the doorbell and soon after the door was opened. "Estel and Bailey? How lovely to see you two. What brings you here?" Sharon was the one opening the door dressed in sweatpants and a tanktop, her blond hair was cut in the same bob she always kept.

"To see you of course." Estella gave a big hug and kissed Sharon on both cheeks. "I wanted to see Tina, she's in her room?" Bailey asked. "Where else would that girl be." Sharon shook her head. "Just go in, she will love it you came by." As Bailey entered Tina's room, both Sharon and Estella went into the living room. First talking about the shopping spree Estella and Bailey went on with Estella showing off a few of the things she bought on her phone. "Ugh, I'd love to buy something like that." She said with admiration as she watched one of the lingerie pieces on the phone.

"Why not? You'd love it." Estella said.

"Yeah, but before I'd do that, I'd need a man. And no way I'm doing that." Sharon said drinking some of her tea.

"Why not? Listen, you need to enjoy yourself. You think Mike would want you to sit down and let live slip out of your hands."

"No." Sharon said with a bit of more sound then she wanted to. "I'm sorry Estel. I just don't know how. I mean with Mike it was just love at first sight. But now I just don't feel like it; I mean what if I get dumped, what if I just compare him to Mike?"

Estella thought she understood the dilemma her friend was facing. "I know, I know. I'm not saying you should forget Mike, but you should try to enjoy yourself. Who knows? Perhaps you just need some moral support? Like a wing man the kids say? I could be your wing man." Estella declared. "Really? I'm not so sure, but thanks Estel. You're the best friend I have." Sharon admitted.

"Oh please, don't make me blush." Estella said. "Speaking of best friends, look at what I got." Estella showed the ring she found at the shop.

Inside the other room Tina and Bailey were discussing things too. "It's so unfair." Tina said letting herself down on her bed next to Bailey. "Yeah, I see what you mean. So when are you going to tell your mom you want to go college?"

"I don't know, I was thinking about the day before I move out." Tina said with a straight face. Tina wanted to do something with her hobby which was art. Bailey had to admire her friend's talents looking at the pieces on the wall.

"You can't be seriously. You have to tell her sometime." Bailey argued.

"I don't know. I mean, I feel sorry for her. When I'm gone she has to stay here, all alone by herself. Ugh, it would be easier if she had a boyfriend." Tina admitted.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Bailey said. "But you already made a choice, that's good. You have to do this. Now you only need to make the next step. I'll be there for you." Bailey said holding her friend's hand.

"You really do huh? Thanks Bail." Tina gave Bailey a hug.

"You're welcome, and oh, that's right." Bailey revealed the ring she had with her.

"It's gorgeous." Tina and Sharon said.

"It's yours, just put it on." Estella and Bailey replied. "I'll put on mine." And with that all four women put on the rings at the same time. And at that same moment all four women felt a little jolt coursing through their bodies.

Confused by the shock but grateful for the gift Sharon and Tina thanked Estella and Bailey. Bailey and Tina joined Sharon and Estella in the living room soon after and when it was late Estella and Bailey decided to leave for home. Or at least that was the plan. While the women were talking dark clouds were gathering in the sky and just as Estella put a foot outside the door it began to pour like mad. It was not even possible to see the car from where they were standing. The women quickly put on the news and it was described as one of the worst cases of rainfall in ages. People were adviced to stay inside their homes.

"Are you really sure about us staying here for the night?" Estella asked for the third time."

"Of course I'm sure. We have enough food and you can sleep here for the night." Sharon said with a smile. Estella knew Sharon wanted to repay her and she couldn't argue; it was raining so hard. "Okay, we'll stay here." Estella said glad she had a place to stay.

"So you're alright my love?" Estella asked Antonio after she could finally reach him on the phone.

"I am, I really am. We are just lucky that the three of us were at home when the rain started. I wouldn't like to think of us out there."

"I agree, but I miss you so much." Estella said wishing she was at home.

"I miss you too, but I'm glad you're somewhere safe and high up." Antonio had to laugh. "At least you won't drown fast."

"I know, we can hold out for a while. Bailey and Tina got our stuff out of the car, you should have seen them, just like wet cats. So what are you guys going to eat?" Estella asked.

"I'm not sure, I'm sure we can figure something out. Natalie told me she could cook." Estella just shook her head. "I'm glad to hear that, though you shouldn't be too hard on her, dear." Estella tried to warn her husband gently. "I will, I will. Wait, I think she's ready....Natalie, what is this?" Antonio asked Natalie. Estella then talked to Natalie making sure she would give her father some dessert. She then said bye to her husband and kids as Sharon and Tina were ready with their dinner. A simple dinner; macaroni and cheese but with a hint of mustard as an addition. It tasted great though; the friendly conversation was mixed with talk about the weather continuing on like this.

After putting the dishes in the dishwasher they decided to play a little boardgame after which they sat down to watch the news. Luckily the weather would be better tomorrow. Relieved they could go home the next day they then went to bed. Estella would share the bed with Sharon while Bailey would sleep in a sleeping bag in Tina's room.

"It was a nice afternoon, wasn't it?" Sharon said waiting for Estella to get ready. She had just washed away her make-up and ready to go for bed. With nothing else Estella decided to sleep in her bra and panties.

"I agree, we should do this more." Estella said stepping inside the bed.

"Hey, you don't mind sleeping on the floor, like that?" Tina asked Bailey.

"For like the million times, I'm fine Tina, we used to do this all the time." Bailey said.

"Okay." Tina finally admitted. "But today was fun, right?"

"Definitely, we should do this more." Bailey agreed.

Soon after all four women went to sleep, the only sound they heard was the rain gently ticking against the windows. And then the rings on the four fingers shined brightly as something was about to happen.
